In November 2010, DJ Yoshiman announced plans to split the MFGG forums into two distinct, separate entities: the MFGG forums, a fangaming-focused board which will continue to be connected to the main site, and The Minus World, which will include most of the community aspects of MFGG and a slight focus on development of independent games. The new MFGG forums are still under development, and the split quickly generated substantial controversy.

The Minus World forums opened on November 15, 2010, with the main MFGG forums closing for an indefinite period while being revamped. The opening of the forums was slightly rushed, and a few glitches remain to be ironed out. However, the opening of the new boards has brought a welcome uptick in activity. The objective has been to present a relaxed, comparatively lenient environment, and despite a few moments of forum-related "drama," most members have adjusted to the change.
