Ordering of "FLOSS" and "Proprietary" sections

Someone re-ordered the sections with this reason:

Proprietary game engines are more necessary than free/libre ones. People use proprietary game engines.

This logic doesn't make sense. They aren't more popular because they are proprietary; they are more popular for other reasons. This isn't a good reason to list proprietary engines first. Note that such completely irrelevant and useless engines as Darkflow (I think that's what it's called) are also proprietary.

I can think of only two perspectives with regard to this: that being FLOSS is inherently better, and that it doesn't matter. The neutral ordering would be alphabetical, which is how I ordered the individual engines, and if we were to order the sections like this, the FLOSS section would come first.

It's also unnatural to have a section for engines that are not some quality and then a section for engines that are that quality.

There are three solutions:

  • Return it to the way it was before
  • Don't split them by section; just mention it in the text.
  • Change all of this to a table, like Wikipedia's "comparison" pages. Whether a game is FLOSS can be a column.

The third is probably ideal.

I changed it to a table. It looks kind of ugly, though. Onpon4 14:57, 18 January 2014 (EST)

My input on the subject at hand.

I honestly fail to see how one engine could be more important than another, proprietary or not. Personally, I feel functionality would be more important to a Super Mario Fangaming website than anything, but even that only goes so far as to what order the list should be. (I would go alphabetical, but that's just me.)

Let's not let this whole "Order of the engines" businesses get out of hand, okay?
