This article contains a list of the programming languages and software that are used to create games.
Compiled Languages
These programming languages are compiled directly into executable applications which can be run. These languages are often the fastest, however, most difficult to work with.
Interpreted Languages
These programming languages need to be interpreted by a separate program. These languages are often the slowest, however, are the easiest to work with.
Software
These utilities provide an environment to create games or other programs.
