Direct3D, or DirectX, is a Windows-only graphics library which is constantly argued to be better or worse than OpenGL, an open source graphics development kit.

Direct3D is used in all of Windows' default programs, as well as most PC games, however, there are also many programs for Windows that use OpenGL instead.
