Wario Land X is a Wario-based platforming fangame set to come out sometime in 2009. It is being done in Game Maker 7 and uses Ultramario's Warioland engine.

Production

Wario Land X was started in November 2007 as a small, easy and very linear game, and has worked its way up to be a much larger and more challenging game.

As of Summer 2008, Blackcat12 has gained the help of both Knight Nappse and Meta Koopa, who are both official spriters for the game. Various others around the forum have pitched in as well, including Kiage Team LocoRoo, 404_Not_Found, Out of Order, Luigis #1.

The game is progressing slowly but surely, with the second world in the middle of production.

Gameplay

The gameplay is a mix of the different formulas found in the Wario Land series and in Wario World. The gameplay is mildy beat-em-up oriented, as the number of enemies found in every level is large. There are are also large amounts of gold and treasure scattered throughout the levels.

Taking a page from Wario World's book, each world of the game has two levels, each with its own boss at the end. Once these two levels have been beaten, a doorway to the major boss battle of that world is opened. Gaining triumph over that boss will allow Wario to access the next world.

Story

Blackcat12 has written a full story for the game, but is refusing to reveal any details about it until the game's full release.

Demo

On August 18th, 2008, a demo showcasing the game's first world was submitted to the main site. It was recieved fairly well by members, but various criticisms about clashing graphics, various glitches, and the game's large difficulty sprang up. Blackcat12 listened to these criticisms, and fixed most of these problems.
