WAVE or 'Waveform Audio File Format is an audio format boasting high quality, but ridiculously large file size. It is widely supported and may be used for sound effects (but never music) in fangames.
WAVE is not recommended for longer sound files due to its hideous file size; MP3 or especially Vorbis are preferable, and it may be best to use these formats for all game audio in the first place.
