Member History

Tragic joined MFGG in September 2005 while searching for Hooktail sprites. His avatar character resembled a sickly green anorexic elf, and he was soon incorrectly labelled "emo." He was later said to be "one of the cool newbs" by Kitsune Yamato, and was dubbed a regular member by Medaforcer in April 2006. Despite having little to no skill in spriting and practically zero interest in fangaming (or even in Mario), he stuck around for a while and was eventually promoted to staff. After over two years on staff at MFGG, Tragic disappeared almost entirely from April 2009 until June 2010, when he suddenly and unexpectedly reappeared.

Addition to Site and Forum Staff

On December 30, 2006, the administration of MFGG opened up new staff positions on the main site. Needed were Comment Moderators and a new Quality Controller. Tragic submitted his application that day, and was hired as a Comment Moderator on January 28, 2007. Kitsune Yamato was chosen as the other Comment Mod and Admiral Delmore was selected as the new Quality Controller.

On June 22, 2007, he was added to the forum staff as well. He moderated the PPP until November 14, 2007 when he was promoted to Global Moderator. On January 26, 2008, he was promoted to Administrator by Yoshiman and Jas, following the resignation of Klobber. Captain Jeff Silvers was also upgraded. On May 28 of the same year, he announced that he would step back down from Administrator to Global Mod, citing lack of experience, technical know-how, and motivation. He hired Black Squirrel as Admin to replace himself. On April 7, 2009, Tragic tendered his resignation, stepping down from forum staff entirely. However, about a week after his return in 2010, he again became a main site Comment Moderator, and on July 8th, 2010 he became a local moderator of the General Chat. Less than two months thereafter, though, he disappeared again from MFGG.

The Character

The character Tragic was created when Chris was designing an album cover for his band, Anemic Royalty. He drew a skinny boy with greenish skin and a crown. He was crying because he was about to be drowned in a cup of tea (an homage to Nirvana's song "Pennyroyal Tea"). There were originally two characters, a boy and a girl, but the girl characater never came to fruition.

When he joined MFGG, he picked a random word as his username. When he saw that people had their own characters as their avatars, he quickly sprited a bust of his character. He later got a scanner and used it to post drawn pictures, which Chris is better with. Later, he named the character Tragic after his username, though this was quickly replaced by the Anne Rice-inspired Aric de Lioncourt.

In May of 2006, he redesigned his character as a vampire to fit better into his ever-changing back story. The change was also spurred by the numerous "OMG emo" comments every time a picture of Tragic was posted. The new character is basically the same, but with blue eyes, pale white skin, and clothes. The general reception from MFGG was "Looks cool, but the emo one was better/more original."

Real Life

Chris Jensen is a junior at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL, studying English and philosophy. He is an aspiring singer/songwriter, using the alias "inkspill" to record folksy indie pop in his spare time. He lists Conor Oberst, Colin Meloy, Brendan Moss, and Deb Talan as aesthetic influences.
