Toad's Typical Day is a fangame by Blutorus, is his entry for the Joke Game Contest #1 - 2015, and his first joke game. This game is known to have borrowed a lot of inspiration from Supernova's Super Mario - Turd Feast games.

Story

Toad is seen doing the things he usually does in a normal day. He takes a walk to his car, dodges lasers in a high speed chase, and gets his burrito at Burrito Chime. Toad notices something different about today, though: Mario has recently been hired to work at Burrito Chime and he gets Toad's burrito. Toad, as usual, takes a burrito for himself without paying, but, instead of sitting around doing nothing, Mario decides to chase after Toad and make him pay for his food. Bubble Bus is always trying to steal Toad's burrito but fails, though this time he claims that he will beat Toad with his "secret weapon," which turns out to be a shield with an odd face on it. After Bubble Bus is defeated once again, he says that he has another trick up his sleeve and summons Riggie to kill Toad. However, out of nowhere, Mario's flying head appears to save Toad via deus ex machina. Bubble Bus then falls of a cliff and explodes.

During the night at 3:28 AM, something visits Toad's house and steals his burrito. Kappy appears to inform Toad that his burrito was stolen, along with Kappy's ship. After Toad not understanding him, the two merge to give Toad an aura attack and some semi proper English speaking skills. Toad battles through the plains at night and pulls a porta-potty rocket out of the ground to head to Venus. However, Bawlragg appears out of nowhere in space to "keel" Toad and Kappy in a turn-based battle. After 1 hitpoint, Bawlragg dies and Trogdor destroys the rocket. The two land on Venus unharmed and find the mysterious figure that stole the items. It charges its attack and at first appears to be the Illuminati, but it is then revealed that Holographic Ghost Bubble Bus destroyed the daily stone so that he could possibly succeed in stealing Toad's burrito. After one last duel with Holographic Ghost Bubble Bus, Toad and Kappy escape his marshmallow fortress (which then self-destructs) with the ship and burrito. The daily stone then self-repairs itself.

Reception

Toad's Typical Day received but one mixed review at the main site. While it praised the music and the fact it's bugless, it criticized the difficultly and the humor. The game was nominated for Best Minigame, Best Bosses, and Funniest Game in the MFGG Awards of 2015. It didn't win any of the categories, however.

Trivia

  • Mario's cap says "350" instead of "M", referencing Mario350.
  • Toad's "huh" quote is inspired by Megaman's "what" quote from the Megaman Sprite Comic series and Megaman Sprite Game.
  • Cappy from Abducted Toad makes an appearance in this game, but here, he is called Kappy and bears a resemblance to the Kappa emote on Twitch.tv. He even uses the Kappa emote in some of his dialogue.
  • Bubble Bus's vehicle is a bus that is also called "Bubble Bus."
  • Toad's burrito can be seen four times in the game.
  • Friendly Dictator, creator of Abducted Toad, helped name Kappy.
