In game-making terms, a texture is a two-dimentional image which is usually attached to polygons in order to form a three-dimentional model. Sometimes a sprite is used as a texture (like in the case of Paper Mario), and can be ripped to form a sprite sheet. However, it is deemed impossible to rip a texture from a screenshot of the game due to the infinate amount of rotations/zooms that can be done to it, which means any textures ripped need to be from a tile viewer, or directly from the ROM.
