Taloncrossing Site Management System
The Taloncrossing Site Management System (TCSMS) is a resource site management system designed and coded by Retriever II for use on the MFGG 2.0 mainsite. It has also been licensed to Metroid: Fan Mission and Zelda Fan Game Network. Originally, it was not planned to be open-source, but it was available as freeware to those interested. Today, however, it is open-source software.
As of March 2025, TCSMS is at version 1.0.3. Version 1.0.3 includes a variety of code changes required to make the system run under PHP 7.x.
Functionality
TCSMS is designed for ease of use by administration and members when submitting, downloading, modifying, and approving a variety of fangaming-related projects and resources. It is possible to use the software for other purposes, but its focus remains on fangames.
Among other notable features, administrative updates can input the {{%recent_updates&}} tag to quickly list all of the new content of the site. "New" content is any that was not listed in any of the last uses of {{%recent_updates&}}
Future
Since the late aughts, there have been discussions about replacing or upgrading TCSMS to use more modern architecture and to add new features, including forum-mainsite integration. At present, none of the proposed upgrades (sometimes known as LumaSMS, galaxySMS, or MFGG3) have come close to getting completed. Instead, a variety of MFGG admins have added new features and improvements to the existing codebase.
Open source
If anyone wants to contribute to TCSMS, a slightly-outdated version of the code has been available on GitHub since 2020:
