Story

Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach again and takes her into an unknown land, where Mario has to go through several portals to obtain Starcoins, the lands powersorce, to get the princess back. When Mario goes through the third castle, he is met by Bowser, and his assistant, Kammy. Bowser shoots flares and blue fireballs that split into two smaller fireballs, while Kammy shoots out magic from her wand. Mario then ducks one of Kammy's blasts, and hits Bowser, sending him into the lava. Mario jumps on Kammy and obtains the P-switch to activate the door to Peach's chamber. He walks up to the princess, but a black power star teleports her away, to his tower. Mario then activates the Red switch, runs up the red staircase in the castle, and sees a grayish portal to Darkstar's tower. Mario avoids the perilous traps, and climbs to the top, where he meets his new foe. Darkstar shoots magic beams at Mario. Mario then hides under the bocks where the blasts change the blocks into shyguys. He picks up the shyguys, throws them at Darkstar, and gets the key. Mario runs to Peach and the credits start playing.
