Super Mario World: Dark Horizon is a Mario fangame created by Henford, which was nominated for the best game of 2006. The game was heavily critisized before release. Some thought the idea was stupid, but most complaints were down to the fact the game had missed many deadlines for being released for one reason or another (usually down to Henford being banned). Many believed that the game did not exist, as Henford repeatedly stated he had worked many years on it yet very little information was being shown, and certainly not what looked like years worth of work.

History

It was originally released as a demo which was criticized for it's somewhat buggy gameplay and poor choice in graphics. Many of the sprites were pixelated and therefore did not look good in game. Whereas the graphics were improved on during development, the overall product released some time later had not improved too much in this area. It has been mentioned that a graphical update was being developed, but there has been no sign of this since.

When the full game was eventually released, it was praised for being an original title that had been pulled off very well. The gameplay was excellent, and so Dark Horizon has become one of the better MFGG fangames. The full version is too big for the main site's size limit, so it is only available on the forums.

The Story

Forget everything you know about the universe, In reality there are separate universes, separate dimensions. Some are very similar to ours while others are very different. Some are different to the extent where mushrooms make you grow to twice your size and the clouds have faces. These separate dimensions co-exist irrelevant of each other in a multi-verse. However, certain events in different dimensions can cause a tear in the fabric that holds these dimensions, causing one or more dimensions to merge with cataclysmic consequences! Such an event has now occurred. During experimentation with time travel devices in their separate dimensions, Adolf Hitler and Bowser inadvertently crated a split in their dimensions, causing the Mushroom Kingdom and its dimension to merge into our dimension! Now it is up to Mario to fight off and destroy Hitler and the Nazis in order to reverse the time split and bring order to the multi-verse! Written by Henford
