General

Super Mario Storm is a fangame made by Press Start during the early days of MFGG. It focuses on Mario having to do challenges given out by various iconic (at the time) MFGGers. It's notably glitchy due to using the default platform engine that comes with the Click products, a bane of many users. One particular glitch can render the final fight almost unwinnable due to the weapon needed (a wand dropped by Kritter) being thrown off screen. Not very spoiler worthy, said final boss is Kyle, either because of the Great Kyle Flamewar going on around that time, or as a satire of it. Either way, while a buggy mess that may cause more frustration than fun, Super Mario Storm is a memorable fangame, particularly for having Mario actually confront members of a site dedicated to making games about him. A concept that still has yet to truly been matched by any other fangames to this very day, although one could argue DJ Yoshiman's latest project What is This Thing? comes very close in matching it.

Trivia

  • Of the members who appear, Kritter, Supertoad2k, and even the site founder Thunder Dragon all make appearances. Of course, Press Start's character at the time, Zorak, also makes an appearance during both the beginning, and as a gateway boss for the "second world" of challenges.
  • There is a sequel in the works, although Press Start never truly showed off anything other than a screenshot or two and a demo, both that can no longer be found because of the posts on the forum they were on being deleted some time, perhaps after a revamp, or simply a basic purge. Either way, no other word on this sequel has found it's way onto the internet, rendering it vaporware.
