Super Mario Quest by DistantJ (previously Freak Zone) is one of the oldest Mario fangames to be recorded. It is largely based on Super Mario Alpha, Biebersoft's first Mario fangame, in that the goal is to collect stars scattered through the levels.
Super Mario Quest was revamped in July 2006, creating Super Mario Quest Deluxe.
