Super Mario Greetings is Hello's first attempt at a platform game involving collecting items (in this case, coins) to open the way to the level exit. Finding the five Red Coins in each level usually involves hitting P-Switches to reveal bridges leading to them or by hitting On/Off Blocks to activate or deactivate Exclamation Blocks. The engine is a modified Trisoft Engine used in all of Hello's earlier games. Hello uses a map screen for the first time, as well as the Black Squirrel tiles, which has been used in the majority of Hello's games. As in Super Mario Bros.: Hello, there's no real ending, and there's not even a final boss. There are four regular levels and a rather interesting Doom Ship level.

Music

Super Mario Greetings uses a fairly wide variety of songs, mostly MP3s, thus contributing to the game's massive file size. The rock remix of the Super Mario Bros. 3 overworld theme was a hit to many players. The underground and fortress music was later used in many of Hello's other games.

Reception

The two reviews for Super Mario Greetings gave the game an average score of 7.5, and the comments posted were generally positive. However, Super Mario Greetings is by no means Hello's best game, and glitches abound; for example, Mario and enemies can get caught inside walls. It's even possible to lose a life on the title screen! Worse, you complete each level even if you lose a life. The executable file is almost 14 megabytes, making it Hello's biggest game by far. This could be a problem for those with slower connections. The game's resolution has caused graphical problems for some players, too.
