Super Mario Galaxy Pinball is a pinball minigame created by Toodles Team. It is the only pinball fangame on MFGG, as well as one of the first Super Mario Galaxy fangames to be made. Toodles created the game in order to help pass time while waiting for the release of Super Mario Galaxy. As it was created before Galaxy's release, some elements of the game don't match with the actual game. An example of this is how Star Bits are incorrectly referred to as Stardust in-game.

Gameplay

Gameplay plays out much like that of a normal pinball game with some Mario Galaxy themed twists. Nearly every aspect of the game is mouse controlled. Clicking either button will flick the the flippers as well as launch the ball. The mouse also controls the Star Cursor which, as in Galaxy itself, can be used to collect Star Bits. Star Bits appear when the ball hits a "?" Block. Collecting 50 Star Bits awards the player with a 1-up. By knocking the ball through the Loop-D-Loop Galaxy bonus, Silver Stars will appear. Collecting five of these will cause a Power Star to appear. Collecting the Power Star will award the player with a two million point bonus, the highest bonus in the game. Additionally, Star Chips can be collected. Once the player has five, a Launch Star will appear between the flippers, making it nearly impossible to lose the ball between them.

Controls

  • Mouse: Star Cursor Movement
  • Mouse Button: Flippers/Launch the Ball
  • Space Bar: Tilt
  • Enter: Pause

Reception

Overall, the game has been well received, with an average score of 8.6/10. Reviewers praised the original concept and graphics as well as the authentic music, but criticized the unrealistic physics and unusual method of control. As the game was released when Toodles was inactive on the site, many members expressed excitement to see him return. Despite this, Toodles remained inactive following the game's release and did not truly return until nearly a year later.
