Overview

Super Mario Alpha

Super Mario Alpha was one of the first Mario fan games in existence, and was created by Biebersoft using the limited software Klik & Play. The game consists entirely of single-screen levels. The task is to collect as many of the 6 stars (plus a 7th, giant star which appears after collecting the 6th) in each course as possible before the timer runs out, sending you to the next course. The game was made up of 3 small games - Easy, Medium and Hard, and there are 3 different endings depending on how many stars you collected throughout the game.

Secrets

  • Skip to the Endings - Pressing the keys 1, 2 or 3 on the title screen would skip you straight to one of the endings.

Note: Before you see the secrets scenes you realize that you have to press 1 or 3, there are scenes of nudity and pressing 2 is the scene of blood.

Trivia

  • Though the classic Donkey Kong styled single screen levels work well here, they were probably designed this way through Klik & Play's lack of the ability to scroll.
  • After it's 1998 release, it was re-released in 1999 as Super Mario Alpha: Champion's Edition, which contained an extra level in each game. After this came Super Mario Alpha: 100 Magic Stars, a simple reworking of the game's original formula with slightly better controls and all new levels with a total of 100 stars to collect.
  • The initial release of the game's 3 endings contained crude humour and nudity. The same endings existed in the 1999 Champion's Edition, but censored. Super Mario Alpha: 100 Magic Stars contains a single ending with no nudity or obscene humour.
