Super Hyper Paper Deluxe Mario Bros. Galaxy World Land 4: Partners in Sunshine SuperStar Island & Saga of Time Advance 64 DS, (SHPDMBGWL4:PISSI&SOTA64DS), is, as you can probably guess, is a poorly made fangame inspired by the Waligie and Player Adventure series of games. In it you play as Mario who goes on seemingly pointless adventures across time and space. The name originates from several Super Mario and Wario games.

Characters

Main roles

  • Super Mario - The main character who survives many deaths and becomes a wanted man.
  • "Quackers" the duck - A duck with teleportation powers.
  • The Alphabet man - Supposedly based on the Virtua fighter character. Due to lack of references he becomes Sonic. Is eventually killed.
  • Terry Bogard - One of the main characters from the Fatal Fury series. Avenges Mario's death for some reason
  • Captain Pugwash - Is supposed to analyse holocubes but is punched in the face and also dies.

Minor characters

  • Adolf Hitler - Sends Nazi forces into the present day by timeshift errors
  • The "Korean Government" (Even though in reality there's a north and south Korea) - Is after Mario after he "upsets" them.
  • "Jengo" Fett - A bounty hunter that chases Mario's ship for some reason.
  • Miles "Tails" Prower - Killed Mario, is eventually killed by Terry Bogard.
  • George Volcano - From the Volvic mineral water adverts. Is essentially useless.
  • French Town Snake - Claria's giant snake form.

Story

Much of SHPDMBGWL4's story is filled with plot holes and mystery with nothing really being explained. Mario manages to travel through time and space, revive himself and others and in some cases manages to acquire powers and tools to help him in his "quest" from nowhere.

The story starts with Mario being captured by giant space cats while relaxing in the forest. He is taken to Nebular 4, tested on and then dumped on the planet of Sega Neptune with a duck named Quackers. Somehow the two get off the planet but Mario contracts a fatal disease on the return journey. Quackers then gets the assistance of the Alphabet man and they travel to Ice Cream World for the cake of life to revive Mario. Upon arrival they are told to leave because of their stupidity and they travel to Margaret Thatcher World which is under conservative government rule.

Unknown events occur and Mario is revived, the duck is exhiled and the Alphabet man dies. Mario steals a bicycle and goes to meet his friend George Foreman, but upsets the Korean government, so he travels back in time to get advice from George Volcano. Upon recieving no advice, Mario fights off the Koreans but creates a time paradox causing him to return to the present day to find himself fighting off Nazis (See Super Mario World: Dark Horizon). Mario kills Hitler.

Mario then goes to the playground to play on the slides. He then tries to find some friends as he has none, but the slides do not allow this and try to stop him. Mario equips himself in a power suit, shoots some metroids and is crushed by a giant slide. Mario then goes to find a moose but is killed by Tails. Terry Bogard goes to avenge his death, defeating tails and finding a holocube of which he takes to Captain Pugwash for analysis. Captain Pugwash is punched in the face and explodes and the game ends.

Trivia

  • SHPDMBGWL4 "rips off" several other fangames, such as Thingio and Super Mario World: Dark Horizon. Also the Hitler boss battle is based loosely on the Super Mario Cowabunga! boss against Medaforcer. It contains a hidden glory emblem, which, if collected means you must fight it at the end.
  • The correct ending is impossible to access as it is not linked up with the main game properly, thus meaning the end is a blank screen.
  • Hidden levels can be accessed by putting "Tetris" or "Claria" in the password menu.
  • The title originally had "Clash" in it, but for some reason this wasn't included anywhere else but the title screen.

Sequel

A sequel going by the name "Super Hyper Paper Deluxe Mario Bros. Galaxy World Land 4: Partners in Sunshine SuperStar Island & Saga of Time Advance 64 DS 2: Mario's X-Cellent Mango Adventure through Sea-Bass World and Beyond" was released on the 26th July 2007. It is a rough continuation of the original game with many returning characters and various other fangames "ripped off". The story ends on a cliffhanger making way for another sequel.

SHPDMBGWL4 2 was not as well recieved as the original, mainly because it exchanged the humour and randomness for longer platforming sections. Work began on the final game of the trilogy but was scrapped not long after.
