The Step-Through Editor was an "editor" present in Click programs prior to Multimedia Fusion 2 and The Games Factory 2. It worked differently than all the other editors; it allowed the programmer to add code while the game was running, when certain conditions happened. For example, if the mouse button was clicked and there were no prior actions associated with that condition, the game would pause and a dialog would ask the programmer what actions to do when that button was clicked. Similarly, other things like collisions would trigger the dialog to appear.

However, the nature of the Step-Through Editor could make it impossible to use for complex games, as the game could be pausing on a near-constant basis and would limit the efficiency of programming. Some conditions would not trigger the dialog, because they could happen too often (such as comparison events). As a result, it was only appropriate for relatively simple games. These are the main reasons why the editor was not included in MMF2 or TGF2.
