Introduction

SonicProject joined MFGG a few years ago, before the forum moved from vBulletin to Invision Power Board. His first post was an advertisement for an empty EZBoard community he had created. Ambitious to start a community of his own. At that time, however, advertisement was frowned upon, even in the Pointless Post Palace. So SonicProject made a bad first impression. He has since come a long way as a member, whether it was in a positive or negative way is up for debate.

One thing that cannot be said about SonicProject is that he lets others brush him aside with his beliefs (whether he knows what he is talking about or not). This is a major flaw of his that has only seemed to worsen as the years pass, on the internet anyway (1). Though he is not the only member who argues, SonicProject argues so passionately when he disagrees with anything that he is said to be the root of most arguments on the forum. Having caused much frustration among other members, he finds himself prodded quite often for how serious he can be and how often he argues about minor issues (3). Finding also in reply to many of his posts, animosity from others.

Why he has not left the forum is uncertain. Perhaps it is because there isn't much for him to leave for. However pathetic that may be, it is the truth. Growing up, he stayed inside quite often playing video games. A result of being picked on in school which later resulted in becoming a highschool dropout. Because he attempted to ignore everyone, any social skills he might have had deteriorated. Though he was not without friends whom shared a high interest in video games as he did. A while back he got his first computer and on it discovered the internet.

Because of his interest in video games, he had always wanted to make one himself. Through a search he found a program called The Games Factory. He started with it right away. But he needed resources. The first forum he ever visited was [SFGHQ], a dedicated forum involving Sonic the Hedgehog fangames. 1. On this forum he discovered it was much easier to talk and discuss his opinions on various matters with text. Thus, the internet became his relief from being a social outcast. Eventually he found MFGG and currently frequents it much more often than he did SFGHQ.

The Supposed End

Being the first legitimate member to reach the post count milestone of 50,000, SonicProject decided that it was time. He announced his leave on his 50,000th post. Requesting an IP ban from the boards so that he may pull his life back together without an internet forum getting in the way. Below is the post quoted in full.

"Alright let me make my 50,000th post a milestone in more ways than one. This post is my last.

Celebrate all you want, you're welcome to. After all, I was quite a bitch to quite a few of you trough a staggering portion of this post count. For that, I do apologize. But you see, everyone needs their place to vent. Get everything off their chest regardless of how ridiculous it truly is. I made this place mine. For that I do not apologize. This was the only place that seemed suitable for it... because this community is one that is full of character and opposing views. Despite being absolutely sick and tired of some of you, I will still miss you... sort of. A good portion of you I respect greatly. Some of them being, probably much to their surprise... Draco, Kaepora, ShadowMan, Medaforcer, Toby, etc. If you think you're one of the ones that wouldn't be listed if I actually bothered to list them all, then you probably are.

But don't think I'm doing this as a favor to you. I'm doing it as a favor to myself. My life is centered around the internet. And I'm ashamed of that. It's time to change that. I should've done it sooner. I wish I'd never experienced the internet in the first place.

Say what you want about my inevitable return. But in order to enforce the leave, I'm asking the admins to ban this account from accessing the boards via IP. And I'm sure they'll be more than happy to oblige.

Bye guys!"

Return service requested (4)

Despite the voluntary circumstances behind SonicProject's banning, months after leaving he has tried and failed to return. Having contacted a member of administration asking to return, he has received nothing further than "actually hold on a second, let me make sure the other admins don't have a problem with this". Further contact after that seems to have been ignored. Now whether or not the "voluntary" ban was actually voluntary is a mystery to SonicProject.

Other Tidbits

  • 2. SonicProject used to be a moderator on the MFGG forums. However, this proved too stressful and he preferred posting as a regular member rather than dishing out the discipline. He wasn't a very exceptional mod anyway.
  • As far as fangaming goes, SonicProject has completed some minigames but never has the motivation to complete anything big. Lately he's been focusing on his artwork.
  • The Pointless Post Palace is where he posts most often. So often in fact that he ranks the highest in post count on the forum (aside from a joke account, The Face).
  • SonicProject has recently decided to dedicate some time to reviewing reviews through MFGG 2.0's comment system.
  • 3. Months ago Duckboy wrote a song and posted it in the Arts Board. This song was called the "SP Song". He sung of the arguments that frequent MFGG when SonicProject is there and how serious he can be. Singing also of how much more fun it is with him gone.
  • SonicProject used to be into emulation but grew out of it. He thinks it is wrong and wants other members to grow out of it too and start using original sprites rather than ripped sprites.
