Super Hyper Paper Deluxe Mario Bros. Galaxy World Land 4: Partners in Sunshine SuperStar Island & Saga of Time Advance 64 DS, (SHPDMBGWL4:PISSI&SOTA64DS), is, as you can probably guess, a series of poorly made games inspired by the Waligie and Player Adventure series. In it you play as Mario who goes on seemingly pointless adventures across time and space. The name is a collection of titles originating Super Mario and Wario releases, though subsequent games have added longer subtitles with no relation to anything.

SHPDMBGWL4 and its sequels were generally well-received by MFGGers due to their originality and general stupidity, though their creator, Black Squirrel admits they are somewhat less classy than the Waligie series pioneered by ShadowMan.

The SHPMBGWL4 series currently consists of "three and a half" "full" games, plus several attempts by Black Squirrel to produce a fourth. The story has had a complete shift of focus from its early days as a Mario fangaming parody to an entirely original set of games starring Quackers "Fransisco" Duckworth III - a time travelling mutant duck with the body of a tank. It is known for parodying the world fangames, popular culture, and the politics of the United Kingdom, all presented as a package of questionable quality.

The Alphabet Man (Sonic) avoiding George Clooney's clones in the first game.

The second game, "Super Hyper Paper Deluxe Mario Bros. Galaxy World Land 4: Partners in Sunshine SuperStar Island & Saga of Time Advance 64 DS 2: Mario's X-Cellent Mango Adventure through Sea-Bass World and Beyond" was released on the 26th July 2007 and is almost identical to the first in design.

However the third, going by the title "Super Hyper Paper Deluxe Mario Bros. Galaxy World Land 4: Partners in Sunshine SuperStar Island & Saga of Time Advance 64 DS 3: One step beyond Mario's X-Cellent Mango Adventure through Sea-Bass World and Beyond: A Ducktale of Epic Proportions aginst an Evil Space Korean Government" follows Quackers the duck's adventure to save Mario from the clutches of Space Korea. SHPDMBGWL4 3 It is built differently from the first two games, and has an enormous amount of replay value due to it's hidden Stop 'n' Swop feature, and many secret levels and multiple endings.

SHPDMBGWL4 3 has become particularly popular, moreso than the previous two titles. It, along with SHPDMBGWL4 2 has inspired BanjoSonic to create his own spin-off game "SHPDMBGWL4:BanjoSonic Edition" as well as generating a number of fans. An "extension", SHPMDBGWL4 3 EX was also released, and is actually bigger than the rest of the series combined.

On July 9th, 2010 BSonirachi (with Black Squirrel's permission) released a SHPDMBGWL4 Mega Collection. It fixed a ton of bugs and problems with the original releases, packaged all the SHPDMBGWL4 games together, and added a few bonuses including Player Adventure DX, a game called Super Mario's Hyper Combo Finish Adventure 2 and the once-canceled SHPDMBGWL4 BanjoSonic Edition. Plots

Spoiler warning! Plot and/or ending details follow!

SHPDMBGWL4:PISSI&SOTA64DS

Mario is relaxing in a forest on day when giant space cats from the planet Nebular 4 abduct him and conduct various experiments on him, ultimately discovering nothing. Afterwards, Mario is dumped onto Sega Neptune, a planet made up entirely of Sega 32X consoles, and meets a talking duck named, fittingly, Quackers who helps him escape.

Mario suddenly contracts a fatal disease when leaving Sega Neptune, and Quackers turns to the Alphabet Man for help. The two travel to the Ice Cream Planet to obtain the Cake of Life, which will heal Mario; however, a bounty hunter named Jengo Fett tracks them down and chases after them. After landing on Ice Cream Planet in an A-shaped spaceship, Quackers and the Alphabet Man find no Cake of Life, but instead get berated by the natives for coming to a planet shaped like a giant ice cream cone to find cake. After some more space flight, the two find themselves on Margaret Thatcher Planet. Upon landing, Quackers and the Alphabet Man discover that it has been taken over by the British Conservative Party and infested with clones of George Clooney.

A series of events then happens, which result in the Alphabet Man dying, Quackers being exiled, and Mario recovering. Mario proceeds to steal a bicycle with which to visit his friend George Foreman, but upsets the Korean government in the process and decides to visit George Volcano instead. Learning nothing besides how Volvic water is made, Mario fights his way through a time-traveling battalion of Korean tanks in an attempt to add more platforming sections into the game.

Mario and the Korean army's time-traveling adventures result in a paradox of parallel-universe proportions, which warps Mario into a present-day invasion of Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party and a spoof of Super Mario World: Dark Horizon. After journeying through a battlefield full of Nazi infantry, he encounters Hitler himself, who is nothing but a Castle Wolfenstein sprite that quickly falls to Mario's jump.

After defeating Hitler, Mario goes to the playground to have fun on the slides. Having no friends, though, he dons a Samus suit and heads out to find some; the slides, however, disagree with this practice. Before Mario can get too far, a massive slide falls on him, blocking his path.

Mario then decides to go find a moose, but is stopped by Tails, who threatens to kill him. Mario proceeds to drop dead. Tails flies off into space and is pursued by Terry Bogard, who eventually manages to shoot down his escape Tornado.

It turns out that Mario had recorded his memories on a holocube before dying at the hands of Tails. Terry, having absolutely no idea what to do with said holocube, takes it to Captain Pugwash for ANALYSIS. After Pugwash meets his death at the hand (or fist, rather) of a black man wearing a hockey mask, the game abruptly ends.

Mario gets an invite from Frank to join his Federation of Geese, but seeing as Frank collects pigs as a hobby Mario was not happy and tried to teach him a lesson, but when travelling through space Wally Wallace attacked his ship and it crashed on a planet that was overrun with cyclopes Bulbasaurs. In an attempt to find a shop, Mario finds a sprite/text combo stolen from another game and gets lost in the forest.

He then awakens as a cement mixer and goes cementing, but soon discovers that the cement was really a vampire. Mario kills the vampire and decides to visit his estranged brother Kerpario on Lampshade Island but ends up in an experiment and causes a big research centre to be overrun by aliens and he has to fight his way out with a crowbar. In darkness, he is struck by Mega Metal G-Man and his life flashes before his eyes, but because it was dark he finds light then finds a key while avoiding Mandark clones.

Afterwards he ends up in Mongolia and befriends a dinosaur called Jerry who eventually fell off a cliff and suffered a gruesome death, and following that Mario choked on his splattering blood, then an intermission begins. Afterwards, Mario receives an urgent message from Wario asking him out, but then Quackers from the last game appeared to travel with Mario again and the pair head off to the desert to fight snakes that were four different types of snakes (such as Solid Snake) merged into one.

Mario and Quackers then head east, only to end up becoming bankrupt from buying bootleg NES cartridges from Chinese pirates and pursuing a life of crime by joining the mafia, who merely threw Mario into a computer and he had to go through a Yoshi vs. Windows spoof level.

Black Squirrel then copies story ideas from Lets Go Thingio! and Mario attacks him for it, so he decides to make the next level "the greatest level in the SHPDMBwhatever series ever". In this level, Mario gets trapped early in the level and a fake credits sequence begins, only to be interrupted and the level continuing and eventually becoming filled with Player Adventure characters as enemies.

After a moment of seriousness Mario and Quackers set sail for the island of North Africa as it had detached from the mainland, became its own country and drifted off to sea. What they didn't expect however was that Jengo Fett from the last game is still pursuing them and chases them throughout the sea. The duo end up in Ireland because of their poor navigational skills, and Quackers evolves into the same appearance flipped vertically. Then the Korean Government from the last game masters time travel and successfully captures Mario for an unknown reason. Quackers teleports away from the Korean Government, thus ending the game there.

SHPDMBGWL4:PISSI&SOTA64DS3:OSBMX-TMATSBWAB:ADOEPAAESKG

The game starts off as a very badly-translated Mario fangame called "Venture of the banana of extreme MARIO" that gets hijacked by Space Korea, then destroyed by Quackers. Quackers then arrives at the city and finds that it has been set on fire by Doofliss from Lets Go Thingio! who is now a Space Korean and is attempting to terminate Quackers. Quackers defeats Doofliss, and by that point the narrator becomes so fed up with Black Squirrel over the constant Thingio ripoffs that he stops narrating from this point on. Space Korea vows to Quackers that they'll retaliate to his acts by hijacking this game, then the internet.

When they hijack the first Player Adventure game, the hero of the game "Player 1" breaks out and escapes, eventually teaming up with Quackers. The two set off to find Archie's castle and ask for his help as he is an inventor. However he's been robbed a few times ever since he moved from Balamory and had set up a super hi-tech security system consisting of a load of crushing pillars. Player 1 gets past these (and in so doing becomes the first-ever person to do so) but ends up confronting Kraid, Archie's final defense. Space Koreans raid the castle, so Kraid decides to fend off the Space Koreans (only to end up being killed) while allowing Quackers and Player 1 to proceed through unfinished segments of the security system. Archie refuses to help Quackers.

Space Korea salvages Tails' corpse and clones him, and seeing as Quackers cannot be captured due to his teleportation powers they proceed to capture everywhere he could possibly teleport to. A pirate frequency informs Quackers to go to the Mr. Kipling planet and bake an exceedingly good cake to stop Space Korea with. Quackers and Player 1 then board the "Doom Buggy" and trigger its "All-Range Mode" allowing it to fly into space. They were pursued by Tails clones but they make it to the Mr. Kipling planet.

Mr. Kipling had gone missing however, and the duo had to find him. When Player 1 enters Mr. Kipling's house he ends up confronting Jengo Fett, who proceeds to blow up the planet by hitting the self-destruct button. Quackers manages to successfully capture Jengo Fett, but is confused as to why he was sent to take Mr. Kipling's bounty. Jengo's mission was all a set up so that Space Korea can corner Quackers, and demonstrates their power by destroying the Ice Cream Planet.

Quackers and co. search for Donley Kong from Donley Kong 3 because supposedly he knows something about Space Korea, with Quackers and Player 1 taking a shortcut and Jengo having to go the long route. However, Donley Kong does not even care about Space Korea and how it's taking over the internet because he is sick of being used in fangames by people, but ends up being forced to join Quackers because Space Korea had captured his original pirate ROM Super Donkey Kong: Xiang Jiao Chuan and were threatening to delete it.

The quartet fly to Space Korea in the "Doom Buggy", only to get shot down, and fearing capture Quackers suggests that they flee to a random application. Doing so, Space Korea hijacks the old application and deploys forces all over the user's desktop in an attempt to track down Quackers, only to have their forces along with the hijacked application destroyed by the Mario from the Player Adventure series, and he explains that this is the reason why he does not die in those games. Space Korea wasn't finished yet though, and a fake credits sequence begins.

Afterwards, Quackers explores a seemingly-vacant Bertie Bassett Island because there are supposedly Tails clones there who are proceeding to kill everyone. After that, Space Korea continues to search for Quackers and even takes over Waligie DX in their search. Quackers feels that they're almost on to him again so the quartet steals the TARDIS (from Doctor Who) and use it to escape, and thanks to Quackers' lousy navigational skills they end up on Skaro. Black Squirrel runs out of ideas again, and so the group have to roam around space looking for Space Korea again. They eventually find it, and manage to get to the control room and shut down the master computer without being stopped, and are then confronted by the final boss. Quackers defeats the final boss, who turns out to be Someguy who was seeking revenge on Black Squirrel for stealing his ideas, and the game ends. Multiple false endings exist within the game and are accessed via Stop 'n' Swop.

Spoilers end here.

Trivia

  • SHPDMBGWL4 parodies several other fangames, mainly Lets Go Thingio! by Someguy and the rest of Tech Wing. Super Mario World: Dark Horizon is featured in the first game and Yoshi vs. Windows in the second. Also the Hitler boss battle is based loosely on the Super Mario Cowabunga! boss against Medaforcer. The first screen from Waligie DX is taken over by Space Koreans, and Donley Kong from Donley Kong 3 becomes a main character in the third game. The third game even parodies Black Squirrel's own Player Adventure series.
  • The correct ending of the first game was impossible to access as it was not linked up with the main game properly, thus meaning the end is a blank screen. BSonirachi fixed this in the Mega Collection version.
  • All the games have hidden levels. A lot of them can only be accessed through the password screen.
  • The title originally had "Clash" in it, but for some reason this wasn't included anywhere else but the first game's title screen.
  • All the games feature a hidden glory emblem (or two), although up until 3 the data was not saved. The Mega Collection versions of the first two games save the collected glory emblems.
  • SHPDMBGWL4 3 has a Stop 'N' Swop feature based off the one from Banjo-Kazooie. However, unlike the one from Banjo-Kazooie, this one works and is slightly bigger. It "swopped" with the expansion pack called SHPDMBGWL4 3 EX.
  • An earlier game called Super Mario's Hyper Combo Finish Adventure 2, codenamed "Player Adventure World", was a more colourful attempt at the "randomness" of the Player Adventure series with very little gameplay value, no decent story, and a whole heap of garbage thrown in it. Black Squirrel considers it a "pilot" for SHPDMBGWL4, though the two are largely unrelated, and concepts from it such as Barney's Octopus-Molestering Simulator as well as characters like Count Bleck and Scrooge McDuck were copied in SHPDMBGWL4.

SHPDMBGWL4 BanjoSonic Edition

Shortly after the original release of SHPDMBGWL4 2, BanjoSonic announced that he was working on a fan version of the first two SHPDMBGWL4 games titled "SHPDMBGWL4: The BanjoSonic Edition!" featuring things like a level based on Sonic Advance 3, a tribute to an old Banjo-Kazooie fangame called BKPC, a level with Ristar in it and some Doctor Who references, and also had Stop 'n' Swop compatibility with SHPDMBGWL4 3 EX planned for it. Unfortunately his motivation in the project dwindled over time until it was eventually canned. Fortunately however, during the production of SHPDMBGWL4 Mega Collection he continued working on the BanjoSonic Edition and finished it up for the collection, complete with in-game visual commentaries.

Warning: The game could scare anyone

Attempts at Sequels

Black Squirrel has attempted numerous times to produce a fourth SHPDMBGWL4 game. Code exists, outlining a basic plot, however production was halted after the Squirrel started university. Both a summer and a winter themed game were planned, worked on and ultimately left unfinished. The winter release was given out as a Christmas present, though features very little gameplay.

Events outlining what could be classed as "SHPDMBGWL4 5" have also been outlined by Black Squirrel. Many of the major characters would be killed off for unknown reasons and the game would take place several hundred years after SHPMDBGWL4 4, leaving an unstable Quackers to risk compromising the space time continuum on his own. Space Korea is set to lose its grip on the universe due to financial woes, with tough austerity measures leading to a ousted government and a lost sense of direction.

If a fourth game were to be made, Quackers would potentially be joined by Nick Clegg, who would overcome enemies by sprouting political rhetoric.

Black Squirrel has expressed interest in professionally creating a watered-down SHPDBMGWL4 game for sale, however it would likely not be called SHPDMBGWL4 and would omit all references to third-party copyrights. But it would likely still feature Quackers and hopefully continue to parody the industry as a whole.
