The Nintendo Community Fangame Convention (NCFC) was an event that took place from October 24th to October 28th (Having been moved from October 8th to October 12th). It involved many Nintendo-related fangaming communities, including Mario Fan Games Galaxy, Metroid: Fan Mission, The Zelda Game Network, Metroid Headquarters, Zelda Fan Game Central, The Gaming Universe and Fangamez.net. Any fangames that feature Nintendo characters, or are otherwise related to Nintendo, could be submitted. Fangames were showcased via "booths," which are websites that provide information about the game, and in some cases offer demos or complete versions. NCFC is much like the Sonic Ameteur Games Expo (SAGE) run annually by SFGHQ, which was based loosly on the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3).

In addition to booths, there were also "workshops," which are live demonstrations of how various fangame-related objectives are shown. While most workshops could only be registered by a pair of users (a lead host and an assistant), two workshops (Engine Components for Clickteam products and Game Maker) could be hosted by multiple pairs, as these workshops can contain more than one subject.

Due to this event, many people decided to release their games at the event before releasing them to their originating communities.

On August 7th 2007, ShadowMan announced that NCFC would be hosting a live Q&A session with Charles Martinet, the official voice of Mario. Mr. Martinet had previously been in touch with MFGGers late 2004/early 2005 but had been the subject to flames as not many members of the time believed it was really him. Unfortunately the session did not happen due to the E for All event taking place, meaning Martinet was unable to be contacted.

NCFC 2

On July 5th, the speculation for a second NCFC was confirmed, as the second year NCFC was officially announced across several websites, including MFGG. "NCFC 2" is the same concepts as before, directed and organized by the same two members, Shadowman and DJ Yoshiman, but several things have changed:

  • Website Design
  • Booths
  • Outreach of specifications to branch out to other Nintendo-related fangames
  • New events, including two video game tournaments
  • An actual Guest for Q&A
  • New websites involved
  • More individuals involved with the planning and production

NCFC 2 is set to begin on October 21st (midnight launch on October 20th), and end the night of October 25th, increasing the amount of days from the previous 4 to now 5.
