The Mega Engine is an open-source engine made by WreckingGoomba, which is designed to mimic how the original NES Mega Man games function while being flexible and easy-to-use in Game Maker 8.1 and GameMaker: Studio. WreckingGoomba stated that the engine took about three months to make. He made it after trying out various open-source Mega Man engines, and realizing that most of them don't consider flexibility and ease of use.
On MFGG Awards 2016, the Mega Engine won Best Engine.
