Mario Warp Zone is a Super Mario fan game made by Darthjaiz, developed using Game Maker 4.3. The Game looks and feels like Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars from the Super NES console except that it has no turn base battle system, instead, it is an adventure game with game play like that of Super Mario 64. The game is incomplete and only has 4 levels to play with. Mario Warp Zone was released in public on Mario Fan Games Galaxy (http://www.mfgg.net) early January of 2009, released as scrapped and unfinished. The creator did not have interest in continuing the game due to some elements. These are: The availability of sprites at that time. The game is too difficult for most players (awkward when jumping on isometric platforms).

Development

The game was developed during Darthjaiz's college years. Darthjaiz did not like Super Mario RPG legend of the seven stars' gameplay, instead he made a similar game using SMRPG 7 stars' sprites and gameplay style. The engine was based from Mark Overmars' isometric ball tutorial, he added it with improved movement on the Z axis for jumping. Most of the sprites are ripped by Darthjaiz while playing the original game SMRPG 7 stars on SNES9X emulator using screen shots and pausing the game. Some other sprites where originally made and also some are edited based from the ripped sprites. There are not much testers involved in the development of the game, most of them are family members of Darthjaiz and fellow classmates.

Release

Darthjaiz planned to release the game in the public not until it would be finished, but didn't find time to develop the game and finish it. This was due to college projects and got more busy when he had to work. He decided to release it as an incomplete game in MFGG.net on January 2009. He did not have interest in continuing the game most especially on an old program version, Game maker 7 was already available and the game's version format isn't compatible with the new version. The release of the game gave good impressions on MFGGers and gave darthjaiz some motivation, motivation to create more Mario games for future release.
