Mario Starshine is a project that is currently in no coherent sort of production. Other names and renditions include Ultimate Mario and Mario Awesome.

Ultimate Mario

Ultimate Mario was shown on the ezBoard shortly after Draco Icebane's arrival. It was considered advanced for its time but presented a myriad horrendous errors, such as:

  • Death sequence did not function;
  • Kicking off of walls when you are standing next to them; and
  • Playing extremely loud sound effects for no apparent reason.

Mario Starshine

Mario Starshine was created from scratch and not from the doomed Ultimate Mario engine. Although it was superior in many ways, it was eventually halted, due to the lack of programmer's commentary in the engine and The Games Factory's limitation. Before its inevitable descent into the abyss, it had quite a few features:

  • Wall-jumping, which unfortunately still held the error of executing while standing next to a wall
  • Able to slide down walls ala Super Mario Sunshine
  • Holding up and pressing Jump would automatically bounce off of any walls touched until landing
  • Small, Super, Metal, and Ninjitsu Mario somewhat functioned
  • Starman
  • Could bounce off of Toads' heads

Mario Awesome

Mario Awesome is the first in this family to be delayed not by over-complication or medium limitation but by Draco's not actually knowing how to do what he wants to. In this case, specifying exactly how many pixels Mario will jump and in what time period. This is the current state of the engine and is intended to hold the following features:

  • Elementary walking and leaping, which may change during runtime
  • Reversible gravity
  • Mushroom, Phantom Mushroom, Metal Mushroom, Fire Flower, Ninja Robe, and various undisclosed powers
  • Wall-Slide / Wall-Jump, Backflip, Triple Jump, Hip Drop, Slide and Roll
  • Some enemies, such as bosses, may be composed of multiple sprites and animated ingame
  • It may have custom music
