Mario SH is a Mario fangame created by the MFGGer Anther. It was submitted to MFGG on May 14, 2004 as a demo, but was never completed due to a major glitch and therefore was moved to the 'scrapped' section. It currently has one review, giving it a score of 9 out of 10.

The technical flaw

The main reason that Mario SH was scrapped was its level loading system. This system had every single level in the game stored externally as a .MAP file in the download folder. This complicated system, though it allowed some computers to play the game, did not work well with a large percentage of computers and made the game generally unplayable to the computers' owners. Ergo, Anther scrapped the project entirely and began work on Mario Pipe Network, which is now one of the highest-ranking games on the MFGG website, having a score of 9.8/10.

Story

Spoilers! Plot/ending information may follow (highlight to read):
The plot of this game remains moderately unclear due to the beginning cutscene being its only hint. An odd "dark Luigi" is seen at the opposite side of a level from Mario, walking into a flashing pipe. Strangely, Dark Luigi's vicinity has an oddly evil aura about it. Mario begins to follow the dark Luigi, but he catches on and shoots a rapid stream of black Fireballs at Mario. Mario then recovers, and sets out after the dark Luigi.

Gameplay

The gameplay is reminiscent of all Mario games and fangames (run, jump, get powerups, dive into pipes, etc.), but with several slight twists. The most noticeable of these twists is the health system. This system contains three spaces for Blue Mushrooms, two of which you begin the game with. Collecting a Super Mushroom will add a Blue Mushroom to your health, provided it isn't already full. Head-on collision with an enemy will take a Blue Mushroom away, and Mario will lose a life and restart the level if the health bar runs out. The game contains four levels (if it actually operates correctly) and has special fangame touches to it, such as trick blocks and pipe riddles.
