Overview

Mario Minigame Mayhem is a compilation of four minigames made by Mario350. Each minigame has a high-score table. When the minigame is over, and the conditions to advance to the next one are accomplished, the player is taken to the next minigame. After the final minigame is completed, the player returns to the title screen and gets the chance to play again. Unfortunately, due to the game using Game Maker's standard highscore table, the scores of all games are saved on the same table, even if the score can differ greatly depending on how much the score the game awards you.

The Minigames

In the first game the player takes control of the protagonist Mario and has to shoot Goombas with lasers. Shooting a Goomba earns Mario five points. Lasers are shot by pressing Ctrl, and you jump with Shift. Once a Goomba touches Mario, even if you jump on it, the game is over and the player is advanced to the next minigame. The player can also move and jump but those moves are optional since all you have to do is shoot. The Goombas do not begin to appear until after thirteen seconds have passed, which lead many players to believe that the game had no content (as they would close the game before the Goombas appear).

The second game involves Mario, with a Super Cape attached to his back, flying through the skies of the Mushroom Kingdom. The goal of this minigame is to avoid Shy Guys (who are attached to balloons) while collecting coins (each coin is worth 500 points). To advance to the third game, the player requires a fairly high score (however, it is impossible to reach that score if you do not collect at least two coins). There is no vertical boundary, so you can fly outside the screen. However, you will immediately lose if you do this.

In the third minigame, Luigi is given the role of a fast-food serving assistant who has to serve the guests. He moves right automatically and the player wins when he reaches the other side of the screen, without any user input necessary. If you click on the hamburgers, a message box comes up saying, "You ate on the job! Your fired!" However, collecting Soda, French Fries, or Mushrooms grants you additional points. If you collect enough points, a message box comes up saying, "Well served! Your hired."

The final installment in this compilation features Mario in the role of a pizza delivery man, who is delivering pizzas to an entire street of houses. He can attack Goombas by throwing pizza at them, but this is optional since the Goombas are completely harmless.

Reception

Mario Minigame Mayhem has been received poorly. Many people voted it a 1/10 and Cap'n Coconuts from Fusion Fangaming even rated it a -2/10, being the first one to rate a negative score since Techokami did it back in the day. People got curious how to vote negative scores and tried it too and many of them succeeded. The site staff declined all reviews after Cap'n Coconuts, though, to prevent this feature from getting abused. DJane Coco had the idea of rating this game a negative score even before Cap'n Coconuts showed up, but didn't manage to do so immediately.

For April Fools 2013 however, with the permission of VinnyVideo, she rated this game a -128/10, even though she intended to vote a -350/10. The total score was temporarily down to below -18, but is now back at 0.9. Still it is the only game on the mainsite with a total score below 1 and therefore rated the worst game to be featured there. Many people question why the quality control had accepted this game.

LSF Games had made a video review of it on Youtube. A small clip of this video is also in the intro he uses for his current videos.

Supernova drew a dedication for this game. Ironically, it was much more well received than the game itself.
