Mario Kart: Beanbean Circuit is a fangame which was created by Mario Gamer and Shadz.

Orgins

In late 2003, (Exact date unknown) Shadz pitched an idea for a Mario Kart fangame. Mario Gamer turned him down on several occasions stating that the game would be impossible to program. Several attempts later Mario Gamer finally agreed. The game was started before Mario Kart: Double Dash came out and so was modeled after that. It was also about the time Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga's...saga hit. Thus it being Beanbean Circuit.

Production begins

Shadz quickly whipped up a few karts and showed them to Mario Gamer. Stating that it would be a pain to animate and program the game was given a side scrolling layout, much like the game Excitebike. The game was originally called "Mario and Luigi Racing" and within a few weeks the basic menu was set up. After many disagreements a character line-up was created. Levels were planned out and modes as well as engine specs were also made.

Characters

The fallowing characters were lined-up in the orginal 2003 version.

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Peach
  • Toadsworth
  • Yoshi
  • Birdo
  • Bowser

  • Bubbles
