Mario's Time Battle is a platformer created by ShadowMan in 2007. It involves Mario travelling through time, being a test subject for "Operation Chronos".

It was submitted and uploaded to MFGG due to a dare from Thunder Dragon, but ShadowMan shortly took it down due to the lack of gameplay. Still, it recieved a pretty good reception from the forums.

It recieved a sequel with the release of Mario's Time Battle 2.

Levels

The game begins in the year 1930, in an unknown location in Austria. Mario is sent 1,000 years into the future as part of "Operation Chronos".

  1. Somewhere in Austria - 2930
The goal of this short level is to reach the end before time destabilization occurs. Failure to do so will shred the fabric of the universe and cause a game over.
  2. Somewhere in Austria - 64930 BC
There is no actual goal. Just wait it out, and the level will end. The level will get very wavy, and it will make the text hard to read, but scrolling the screen should make the text normal. Basically, it describes Mario's reaction that time is running backwards and the area he's in is not actually the past.
  3. Somewhere in Austria - N/A TIME
This time, the level is made of blocks that only appear when stepped on or touched. Falling off sends the player back to the previous level. The best strategy is to jump around alot to make sure there are no pits to land in.
  4. Beginning of Time/End of Time
Another level with a lack of a real goal. The level consists of a completely black screen. Just listen to what "the Mother" has to say, as transcribed here:

I am displeased with your failure to accept the time loop. The creation of Chronos was an experiment in disaster. Now it is time to seal the fate of fate.
  5. Somewhere in Austria - 1930
You are returned to where the story originally began. Walk to the right until a giant Mario appears. Touch it, and the screen goes white while an ear-piercing noise is heard. The final screen of the game will then be shown: the title screen of Super Mario World, complete with the original music, while the credits run underneath.

Trivia

  • Between the third and fourth levels, cutscene ends before the text finishes. Here is the text before the cutscene cuts off:

Bring to me Mother, creator of Time. Destroyer of Time. Complete the cyclical paradox and avenge the works of

According to Shadowman, the remainder of the text is not meant to be read. He originally put in Joseph Stalin because he couldn't think of anything else.

  • At the end of the game, after the credits roll, waiting a while will cause the following message to appear in the credits line: "Luigi's Game demo coming soon"
