Spoiler Warnings are warnings that details listed in an article could contain spoilers (information that could ruin the "surprise" of the game/whatever). They should be used if the information in an article is not meant to be widely known.

Example

1) Mario is a playable character in Super Mario Galaxy

See that point 1 is widely known information and therefore does not need a spoiler tag, but point 2 is not meant to be widely known and therefore needs one.
