Luigi's Mansion Starry Night is a fangame currently in development by SilentDream. It has changed multiple times over the course of it's development and was canceled for a few months but is back on track for a release later in the year.

History

Luigi's Mansion Starry Night has changed a lot since it was first created, originally it was a modification of Luigi's Mansion 2D where the player would explore the game game from an overhead view and when a ghost would attack switch to a side view where the game would play like Luigi's Mansion 2D but without jumping. It later became a fully 3D dimensional game with a camera like the official Luigi's Mansion series but was cancelled when SilentDream was in training for the US Army and didn't have much time to work on the project. SilentDream was contemplating the idea of returning to Luigi's Mansion 2D or using assets from both games in Super Mario Phantasia but has now decided to return to developing Luigi's Mansion Starry Night and reverting it back to a primarily 2D game.

Gameplay

In it's current form Luigi explores an overworld in a top view and fights battles in a side view. Originally he was unable to jump, only dodge but jumping is now possible like in Luigi's Mansion 2D. Battles will take place in a small arena with platforms, blocks and obstacles that reflect the overworld where the battle was initiated. If Luigi was in an area with tall grass on the overworld you will have to contend with tall grass in the battle area as well. The overworld in the game is interconnected and is planned to feature multiple mansions with fields, forests, lakes, cliffsides, ghosttowns, and caverns in between. luigi will have to revisit each mansion multiple times throughout the adventure.
