Luigi's Game is an action/platformer being created by ShadowMan in Multimedia Fusion. A test engine has been released [1], but little plot information has surfaced.

Plot

The only plot information was released during the first (and only) M.F.G.E.

2070 - The game's initial backstory begins in 2070. The Shyguys that live in Dark World revolt against the Koopas and take control. Bowser is forced into exile. A Mushroom paramilitary police called the IMPDO attempts to quell the rebellions.
2073 - The Koopas and the Shyguys have made peace. The Dark World is reformed as the Shyguy Republic, with King Shyguy as the Chief Magistrate. Kamek is chosen as his aide.

Six months after the creation of the Republic, a series of unusual events unfolds. Bowser has mysteriously disappeared from his now ruined castle, and Mario and Luigi have been held responsible. The IMPDO has begun a full-fledged assault on the Shyguy Republic. Kappa Labs, a division of Mycenian Labs, the most powerful science and technology labs ever founded, has declared bankruptcy.

Gameplay

Luigi's Game is, for the most part, a platformer with gunplay added. Currently, based on the test engine, basic movement, wallkicking, and guns have been added. Although ShadowMan announced that vehicles would appear in the final game, they will not be used in a freely useable form similar to Halo, but rather they will be scripted sequences which take place on vehicles.

Development Timeline

  • 2002 - ShadowMan begins working in The Games Factory. After finding MFGG, he attempts to create a fangame called "Super Mario Neo".
  • 2003 - SMN is scrapped completely, but some ideas developed from SMN are borrowed and put into a new project called The Luigi Game. The project reaches its halfway point when ShadowMan obtains a new computer.
  • 2004 - The project is completely restarted, this time using the popular idea of a "static engine" that was beginning to surface on MFGG. The engine is a mess, and development never makes it past an introduction sequence.
  • 2005 - In an attempt to salvage the game, ShadowMan uses Retriever II's newly released High Precision Movement Engine. The coding is extremely complicated and, as ShadowMan did not know how to work with the engine, was unable to add any features.
  • 2006 - Luigi's Game is restarted again from Ground Zero using the Advanced Platform Movement Extension for Multimedia Fusion. The engine is stable, and the first playable test is released.
  • 2007 - A trailer is released on September 7th. Luigi's Game is set to have a playable demo for the Nintendo Community Fangame Convention made in Multimedia Fusion 2, however only a technical demo is made available as MMF2 does not yet support hardware acceleration, which is needed to prevent lag.
