Gravity Goomba is a fangame by Elyk, which was on development for about five years.

Gameplay

A Goomba is being controlled by the player, who can be able to run and jump, as with most platformers. If the Goomba touches a hazard, they'll have to start over. One unique gameplay element found in this game is one that can allow the Goomba to have its gravity set towards the nearest ground (although there is a few spots that the Goomba cannot have its gravity set towards to).

The goal is to search for Power Stars that are found in many different locations on space. These locations can vary from small cloud platforms with Flame Chomps breathing fire at the Goomba, a huge maze made out of blocks, and more. The player can hold a certain key, which reveals yellow lines that go from the Goomba to the Power Stars that haven't been collected yet. A couple locations contain a boss inside them, which must be defeated in order to receive the location's Power Star.

Spoilers! Plot/ending information may follow (highlight to read):
Once the Goomba managed to collect all of the Power Stars, pressing the key used for revealing lines will reveal a flashing line that points to a door. Inside the door is a cube that contains a boss inside it. Defeating the boss will make Peach appear on the cube. Touching her will cause an The End screen to appear.

Reception

Gravity Goomba has received an overall mixed reception on the main site. They praised the concept and the key that allows players to see where the Power Stars are at, but they weren't too fond of how frustrating the game could be in certain areas. It currently has an average score of 6.7/10 on the main site.

On the MFGG Awards 2012, Gravity Goomba was nominated for Best Level Design, Best Secrets, Best Setting, and Best Bosses. It didn't win any of the categories it was nominated for, however.

Gravity Goomba managed to win Game of the Month for June 2012.
