Grant Joined MFGG forum 1st November 2006 after lurking for a couple weeks. He made very positive impact on the board with such an awesome (long and well written) introduction post, which went like this:

Hello, MFGGers!

I found this site fairly recently, and was fascinated by the things on it - all kinds of great games, sprites, and other resources. After downloading and playing a number of the games, I realized that something I would really want to do is make a Mario game myself. And what better way to do that than to join a site with all kinds of people who can help me?

I've already begun - just begun, mind you - to make a Mario platforming game in the style of the original games, and plan to go through with the project until it's finished (though it could well take many months). I plan to work mostly on my own, aside from using a lot of the great resources here (and of course giving full credit where it is due).

I've been lurking around these message boards for a while now, before deciding to join them. They seem like a good place for me to hang out when I want to talk about gaming and other things. I've been a member on other VG-related boards before, but was generally unpopular, due in part to my own behavior (don't worry, I think I've matured since then). MFGG provides me with an opportunity to start over again, and hopefully become a respected member of the community.

Curious to know more about me? My name is Donald Grant Herring, Jr. (I go by Grant); I'm 20 years old, white, and male; and I live in the USA (Indiana, to be more precise). I enjoy playing video games, using the Internet, making games, reading, drawing, working on stuff for my friend's site, and occasionally engaging in political debates (generally on the conservative side). Some of my favorite video game series are Mario (especially the platforming games), Wario, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and Sonic.

If anyone wants to talk to me, they can contact me on AIM (see my member profile). I will probably visit the MFGG chatroom from time to time as well.

P.S. I hope this post isn't too long and boring for you to read. If it is, just pretend it says "Hi, I'm new!" and I'd imagine it's all good.

Grant has started on a major Mario fan game project. It has no working title yet, but it is planned to be a full-length Mario platformer, similar to Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, and featuring new power-ups as well as concepts borrowed from various Mario games.

Grant has been in several competitions so far. He plans on submitting his first minigame comp entry, Mario's Coin Lure, to the site eventually, after adding more levels, items, and possibly enemies to it.

To date he has never been warned/suspended, and he plans on being very careful to keep it that way.
