Gatete Mario Engine is a series of open-source engines developed by Gatete since February 2008.

Dark Yoshi Open Source Mario Engine or D.Y.O.S.M.E for short is Gatete's very first engine. This was developed with Game Maker 7
- The engine makes use of DnD (Drag and Drop) and it was released on February 14, 2008.

Darkyoshi Mario Engine 2
Darkyoshi Mario Engine 2 or DME2 for short is Gatete's second Mario engine. This engine was released on July 12, 2008.
- The engine makes use of a mix of DnD and GML and was made with Game Maker 7

Darkyoshi Mario Engine 3 (GM7 Version)
This is the third installement of the Gatete Mario Engine series.
- This version was made with a mix of DnD and GML, this engine was discontinued after a Game Maker 7 crash. But there's a downloadable copy of it on the old forum archive. This engine was released on April 8, 2008

This is a major rewrite of the third installement of the Gatete Mario Engine series

Darkyoshi Mario Engine 4
This is the final engine that Gatete made with Game Maker 6.1 before switching into GM8, this engine was released on March 28, 2009.
- This version of the engine is fully made with GML and lacks commentary.
- This engine is also the first one that initiated Gatete's tradition of adding at least a walrus enemy.
