Dex joined MFGG on September 6th, 2006. He is a notorious spriter who is very talented and has won several sprite competitions over the years. He is a generally likable guy who often browses the Arts Board and was involved the Community Fangame Project. As of March 20, 2009, Dex left MFGG. He returned later in July and continued to post his artwork, though he was hardly active.

Before the forum moved to phpBB, Dex started to be a tad more active and contributed to many topics in the CCC and the Arts Board. When the boards moved, he joined as "Dex," but later events would change that name into something much more iconic.

Early start

Dex started off looking for Mario games and codes. He saw a site called: MFGG.net, and soon wikied what a sprite was. After learning, he put a lot of effort into spriting, mainly Mario sprites, and finally he decided to search the internet to see if others did the same thing he did. He came across the words: Message Board. Hesistant about joining, he made his username something stupid, and left it as Mariorocks21. He still had no idea how to change it, so he moved on. His first sprite he posted was an SSB Mario, and, even though it wasn't very good at all, he was received as a generally likable new member.

Friendships

His first friend on MFGG was Josiah. He had always thought Josiah was a great guy, and an excellent artist, so when he posted in Dex's topic about SSB saying he'd help, Dex jumped for joy. He's talked with Josiah since and they've both become a lot better a pixel-art and drawing. He has also made friends with other MFGGers such as Bacteriophage, Zero Kirby, Fender, Marth, Shyguy Grey, Max Rider, stanleyscup07, Hatman, Glukom, Badassbill, Fuzzy, Shanks, DavidCaruso, Char, RetroX,Shawn,Tyvon, OSM, and many others.

MFGG Wrestling

Dex debuted at the MFGG Wrestling topic on a wonderful day, getting information wrong. He worked hard in matches to receive the SVH title. He lost the title to Suigi. He joined XD after defeating Kid Koopa (in his fifth match), a friendly rival.

On January 22nd, 2007 at MFGG Winter Storm, Dex and Captain Jeff Silvers defeated Doc Wario and Julio Cesar F. Kid Koopa congratulated Dex and Captain Jeff Silvers. MFGG Wrestling then kind of disappeared and Dex moved on, of course.

Participation in "The Void"

On a lonesome day at MFGG, in the Casual Conversation Castle, Dex, who was at his aunts, ironically, at the time, sat with nothing to do but browse MFGG. It was a good day, however, to be browsing, as suddenly, the CCC was altered drastically into The Void. This started the Life at MFGG event. Dex actively posted in tons of the topics, intrigued by the mysterious events, and hoping to find some sort of solution to the problem. When it was revealed that Evil Space Techokami was the culprit, Dex, and a team of rag-tag ruffians decided to take on the antagonist with full force. Despite their attempts, the CCC was capsized. It was later returned to normal.

The Bard

After the phpBB boards had been up for about a month, Dex found himself surrounded by a forum that he felt needed a tad bit of fun. He hadn't posted in a while, and on a whim, decided he'd dupe on the forums (which, he didn't consider as a bad thing, at the time) as 'The Bard,' who acted as a wandering sage, offering advice, help, and insight. He opened a help topic, called Ask the Bard, in which members could ask him questions, and he in turn would answer.

However, after a month of posting as the Bard, Dex decided it was time update his art topic as "Dex" on the forums. This was a costly mistake, as he'd agreed with the staff to remain on the Bard account at all times. It didn't seem to be that big of a deal at the time, but all the while, the Bard was permabanned and Dex was left with his regular account.

After working things out with the staff in a long turn of events, Dex changed his name on the forums to The Bard in an attempt to keep up his act. However, this time around, The Bard is more like an actual member in that he participates in conversations that a bard would never set foot in. Most of the userbase know his secret, yet, still seem to enjoy The Bard's guise.

Dex Today

Dex currently sprites, draws and plays high school soccer. He is an active member of both Pixeljoint and Pixelation, and is an Administrator at The Spriters Resource forum.

As of August 29th, 2008, Dex threatened to leave for an indeterminate amount of time, after an argument with Delmore after the latter continued constructive criticism on Dex's work. However, it seems that he has resolved this problem and is back.

He was also banned for a day after lashing out thanks to Shawn's opinion of MFGG's spriters. This led to the MFGG awards. (below)

Dex also received the '08 MFGG Award for Best Pixel-Artist on the forums. He's also gotten awards at his favorite site, Pixeljoint, as well. He hopes to better improve his art.

In the '09 MFGG Awards, Dex once again received Best Pixel-Artist, and was also nominated (as the Bard, mind you) for Flame-Proof, Mr. Popularity, and Most Friendly Member.

Dex's Character

Dex's character is basically just a cartoony little skull with a bow-tie. He has a human ref, as well, but he prefers his more original, color-blended skull.

As "The Bard," Dex sports a long, brown robe, along with a hefty beard and a powerful mahogany staff.
