Darunia-Saria 2012, also known as Affordable Care Act: The Game, is VinnyVideo's sequel to Darunia-Saria 2008. D-S 2012 parodies the absurdities of the 2012 U.S. presidential election, just as D-S 2008 addressed Election 2008. Regardless of its title, there has probably never been a fangame announced three years before its planned release. VinnyVideo has warned that there is no guarantee that this game will ever exist.
Story
While future developments will undoubtedly affect the story, Bowser has gotten tired of trying to influence the world by kidnapping the Princess, so he has decided to run for president under the fictitious Neo-Whig Party. His campaign will take him to fundraisers, debates, and other public appearances.
Game Design
Many of the levels will involve the tough issues that pop up in debates and town-hall meetings, like health care and foreign policy. While the Medical Paperwork level is the only level almost certain to appear, it's a safe bet that there will be a number of bosses, like Barack Obama and future Republican presidential candidates. If the game were to be made today, VinnyVideo would likely use the Hello Engine 3, but it's expected that significant improvements will be made in the fangaming world in the years to come. VinnyVideo may even use a custom engine.
Improvements since 2008
Despite its edgy wit and creative use of music, VinnyVideo's 2008 election game received many poor reviews, citing its inherently glitchy engine and the needless muddling of elements from Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong games. VinnyVideo plans to make the 2012 game clearer by removing some of the needless abstraction and making the sequence of events easier to understand. Many of the characters and settings from Darunia-Saria 2008 may return, however, in some kind of cameo role, and the unseen Pidgit is likely to again play an important part in the backstory.
