Joining and Intro
Yoshiman, "the one with the sword, the one with the coat", is a green Yoshi with a rainbow spine (ordered green, red, yellow, then cyan), a leather jacket, boots, and a sword.
Ever since the days of Bowser Tech (watching since 1996 or so, joining 1998), Yoshiman has been interested in Mario fangaming (both aspects of playing and programming) for years. After finding out that Bowser Tech had changed into MFGG thanks to Thunder Dragon, he was overjoyed to finally go to a website devoted to Mario fangames. Over the years he matured. Every next game he would make would improve over the last.
A loyal fan of Yoshi, he's submitted 4 libs consisting of Yoshi sprites, and one of them being MFGG's "history-making first-ever N64 sprite." He has also submitted several howto's to the site, and was once moderator during the age of the EZBoard, but lost the power with a few others when the board got rid of EZBoard and moved to Invision.
What he does in MFGG
Yoshiman is an oldbie, being at MFGG when it was Bowser Tech. While most of the oldbies gradually left the forum, Yoshiman stayed, due to the obssession of Mario fangaming. Other oldbies stayed as well, others left and came back. Yoshiman is popular to a few members, and a good friend, but outside of that, is seen as just another member.
Yoshiman has never been in the midst of a flamewar (with the except of the Great Kyle Flamewar), and sometimes gets into arguments which are either given a solution or died out. He sweared never to enter the Pointless Post Palace during the EZBoard days, but slowly began to post in it after the move to Invision. He still spends almost all his time in the General Chat, but also spends time in the PPP.
Yoshiman is currently working on a huge game project called Mario Spy, with a Mario Spy Team. He's created games in the past that are of questionable quality now, but were of good quality back when they were released. He's collaborated with Mario Gamer to create a game for Mini-game competitions, called "Pyramid Panic."
Yoshiman is also notorious for having provided a voice in Paper Mario World.
People
When Bowser Tech changed to MFGG, more people started to join. Yoshiman made many friends with people there due to his friendly personality and other's friendly personalities at that time as well. His first friend was Nite Shadow the Bio Freak, in which they talked every single time each one was online to talk about fangames, life, and for him to show off his sprites. As time moved on, he created friendships with people like Cutman, Dark Yoshi, NeoSalen, Quickman, Neo Hyper Yoshi, Supernesfreak and Ricweb.
He also created an RPG-like rivalry with Doctor Octopus, who kept wishing to kidnap Yoshiman's kittie, "Kishi." This went on for a while and enticed Cutman to create a game about it, called Kittie Quest.
Later on, as people left and people joined, Yoshiman created more friends, which includes Bungalo, Dr. Wario, FanGuy, Mario Gamer, Parakarry and ShadowMan. Yoshiman still likes to talk to oldbies on AIM, like Nite, Quickman and Mugenmidget, and Thunder Dragon as well.
The Final Verdict
While Yoshiman may not have 10,000+ posts, he does have a reputation for being a friendly member, an oldbie (who reminisces about the old days more than necessary) and one of those members that could either barrel you down with sarcasm, encourage you, or make an unexpected post.
He currently wishes to:
- Finish Mario Kart: Beanbean Circuit programming before the end of 2006.
- Finish the Mario Spy demo before the end of next year.
- Do more than let his music he's created sit around on his computer.
Yoshiman also uses many tools for making his games, which includes:
- Multimedia Fusion
- The Games Factory
- C++
- Paint Shop Pro
- 3D Studio Max
- Darkbasic
