Battle in the Future is a fangame that is currently developed by Q-Nova, which takes place after the events of The Flooded Tower. A demo of it was released on the forums in September 17, 2016, a year after The Flooded Tower was released at the forums. The demo was Q-Nova's entry for the Minigame Competition #2 - 2016, and it managed to place at the top five.

Like in previous fangames Q-Nova has released so far, Battle in the Future uses custom graphics. However though, the graphics use way less colors than Q-Nova's previous fangame. It is so low that it looks 8-bit. There is currently no sound effects and music used in the game.

Story

Besides the fact that Battle in the Future takes place immediately after The Flooded Tower, not very much of the story is actually known. During the game, a Goomba is fighting against a boss. According to the message that pops up when the boss is defeated, it is called the Masked Koopa.

More of the story may be revealed once the game is finished and then released.

Gameplay

Battle in the Future has the player control a Goomba, which can be able to run and jump, as with most platformers. Like A Typical Day, the Goomba can carry an object (which is currently seen as a green blob with an H on it), and then throw it. He can only do this if he close to the object and it is currently stationary, however. The Goomba has about four pieces of health, each of one of them being lost once the Goomba touches something harmful. Losing all four health pieces will make the game start over.

The goal in this game is to defeat the Masked Koopa, who unleashes several attacks and then shoot the object that the Goomba must carry and then throw into the Masked Koopa. The Masked Koopa has four health pieces, and getting hit by the thrown object will cause one health piece to be lost. While the Masked Koopa is down to his last health piece, some of the attacks he'll use will be slightly different.

Reception

Aside from placing in the top five on the Minigame Competition #2 - 2016, Battle in the Future hasn't really received much feedback. Syaxamaphone had thought that the boss fight was interested and she stated that she liked the non-placeholder graphics.
