Backdrop

From Mario Fan Games Galaxy Wiki

A backdrop in TGF and MMF represents the background and foreground within a project. These backdrops can be set to interact with various objects to act as an obstacle, platform, or even a ladder. Quick Backdrops are so named because they can tile easily and quickly, while regular backdrops cannot; they either have to be duplicated or dragged and dropped manually. Backdrops display behind all other objects, but they can display over Background System Boxes. In TGF2 and MMF2, backdrop objects can be placed in front of active objects and the like, if the layer they are on is above said objects' layer. Currently, cross-layer collisions are not supported, nor are collisions with hidden layers.

Backdrops should be used whenever possible, as they are not subjected to object count limits. Due to their lack of values, flags, and action/event sets, they use much less memory than active objects, and large backdrops have no effect on the game's speed.
