Cap'n Coconuts first registered on the mainsite on March 29, 2008. He's one of the more prolific reviewers on MFGG, being one of the few members to reach Super Reviewer status. In 2014 he tied with VinnyVideo for the Best Reviewer award at MFGG Awards. Cap'n Coconuts has currently released three fangames, all of which have met with a fairly positive reception.

History
In November 2012, Cap'n Coconuts adopted his new username, changing from his old name Captain Cook.

On February 24, 2015, about half a dozen MFGGers started copying his avatar. SuperArthurBros is believed to be the one who started this short-lived avatar fad.

On October 31st, his Forum username was changed to Shadow Coconuts during The Hallowsphere event. Later that day, he decided to make the name change permanent. On November 1st, he formally announced that the change would be permanent. He has later changed it to Cap'n Krampus, and then he changed it back to Cap'n Coconuts, however.

On December 7th, he made an IRC chat. It isn't currently official yet, but many people are using it.

Character
Cap'n Coconuts had a history of calling out other members, usually for what he perceived as being arrogant, hypocritical, or otherwise insufferable. Although he may have had good intentions, he realized that calling out people did not necessarily benefit the MFGG community and usually derailed whatever threads he posted them in, and made a resolution to stop.

Cap'n Coconuts has a tendency to make blunt or satirical observations at times, which tends to set him at odds with other members.

Projects
* Mario's Marine Pop: The first game submitted to MFGG, it currently has a review score of 7.3 and was never finished. Despite overall positive reception, Cap'n Coconuts no longer likes the game.
* Super Mario Fusion: Revival: A group project with him and the Fusion Team, the founder of which being JudgeSpear.
* Luigi Land: the Bootleg Invasion: An entry to the second Minigame Competition of 2014. It is a short shoot-em-up that borrows heavily from the Gradius series. Due to the competition's time restraints, this fangame has only one level; Cap'n Coconuts has stated he wishes to make an unabridged version with the full story. It won a Game of the Month award in June 2014.
OSM loves Zelda, and shows it in his sprites. He is considered to be one of the best LttP style spriters on the site, and possibly in the fangaming ring as a whole. He's very famous for his Twilight Princess Link sprites and his OoT Link sprites, many more too.

He is also known for his consistent obsession of the Banjo-Kazooie video game series, and makes "Stop n' Swop" theories from time to time.

He's recently grown an interest in the Batman franchise and closely watches and reports any news on the upcoming game Arkham Asylum.

OSM is also considered GreenDragonXIII's "Partner in Crime", and helped produce the giant anthology of misadventures known as Radical Randomness
Mawio and Sawnik
Mawio and Sawnik was a series of short comics drawn by Oldskoolmario, featuring Mario and Sonic. They were usually posted in the Pointless Post Palace (until its removal, when they began being posted in the Casual Conversation Castle) and were well-received by other members, mainly due to the priceless expressions and unfailing humor. They were usually posted one panel at a time and OSM only made the topics every so often.

Of his creation, OSM says, "sdjkfhalkjsdf there just some stupid comic strips i make early in the morning from being extremely tired all the time. plus im really not stable in the head"

The series still pops up every now and again, though not very often, and the earlier editions have been preserved in The Vault.
Some sections are incomplete and will be added or expanded later.

Incomplete

This article is a guide written from the perspective of Cap'n Coconuts, the founder of the EsperNet MFGG IRC, to help new users and channel operators learn about the protocol and what they are capable of doing. It has been written to condense multiple IRC help pages into one concise guide tailor-made for using #MFGG.

New User Guide
Let's start with you guys who have never used IRC before.

Except where noted, <angle brackets> mark required parameters and [square brackets] mark optional parameters. And no, you don't need to enter the brackets when typing a command.

Choosing a Client
This section is incomplete.

Basic Client/Server Commands
Commands to the client or server have a / prefix. For information on CocoBot, read his page.

* /help: this is the most important command, compatible with all good IRC clients. This brings up your client's help text, and can guide you with any commands that are not listed here or are specific to your client.
* /server <server>: has you connect to a <server> (e.g. irc.esper.net).
* /reconnect: reconnects you to a network if you were disconnected.
* /join
: has you join
. You can use this if you're kicked to rejoin #MFGG.
* /part: has you leave the channel you're viewing.
* /msg <nick> <message>: sends a private message to <nick>. /query is similar, but forces opening a new window/tab while /msg does not.
* /whois <nick>: shows information about a nickname. If the person is no longer online or if you want to see some history, use /whowas.
* /nick <newnick>: changes your nickname to <newnick>
* /me <text>: sends a message with you as the subject, e.g. <CapnCoconuts> goes for a walk
* /ignore <nick>: Someone getting under your skin? /ignore will hide any future messages.
* /unignore <nick>---: Removes /ignore.

Registering and Protecting Your Nickname
When you first connected to IRC, you were able to do so with only a nickname--no password or e-mail necessary. However, other people are also able to use the same nickname when you aren't using it. To claim a nickname as your own, you need to register it though the nickname service (known as NickServ). Commands to NickServ must be sent to NickServ via /msg NickServ, or /ns if your client supports it.

First, you must start registration via /ns register <password> <e-mail>. This will send verification instructions to your e-mail address. Don't worry, the instructions are simple and should literally take only a minute after receiving the e-mail. If for some reason you didn't receive the e-mail, you either spelled your e-mail wrong or you should ask for assistance in #help. Once you've been verified, you can login via /ns identify <password>.

If you're invested in IRC enough to register your nick, I highly recommend you use a desktop client if you aren't doing so already. Many of these clients will let you auto-perform commands on connect or will otherwise let you automatically identify with NickServ on connect.

Once registered, people can still use your nick but will be informed that your nick is registered and asked to change nick. If you find someone is using your nick, you can use /ns ghost <nick> <password> to force that user to disconnect.

But if you really don't want people using your nick, you can set an enforcer via /ns set enforce ON. When an enforcer set, NickServ will force a nick change and temporarily lock your nick if your nick is not identified in 30 seconds. To use a nickname that is currently locked, use /ns release [password]. If you're logged into your account by an alternate nick, you need not provide a password, otherwise you do.

Voiced User Guide
If you've been granted automatic voice, congratulations! You've gotten it either because you're a (former) staff member and/or a model MFGG citizen and you're trusted not to cause any problems in the channel. Besides having a status symbol, you will be able to speak when the channel is moderated and you will be able to invite yourself with /cs invite if the channel is invite-only.

That's it, really. Just enjoy yourself and don't let it go to your head. You might want to read up on some of the channel operator stuff though, just in case.

Channel Operator Guide
Channel operators are the police and managers of the channel. Their permissions depend on their roles, a list of which is provided in the section below. A full explanation of channel permission flags can be viewed by entering /cs help flags.

Voice Permissions
Voiced users don't really have any power over other users, but can be temporarily opped (mode +o) in case of an emergency. Temporary ops will have most Mod privileges but will lack any ChanServ access, and will lose ops when it is taken from them or if they leave the channel.

Mod Permissions
All users Mod rank and up can change the topic, change channel modes, kick and ban users.

Changing the Topic and Channel Modes
The topic can be changed by entering /topic <topictext>. To edit the previous topic, copy and paste it into your input and then edit it as necessary. Please be sure to keep the formatting from the previous topic.

Most channel modes can be turned on with /mode #MFGG +<modes> and off with /mode #MFGG -<modes>. For example, /mode #MFGG +nt would switch on both the n and t modes. Some modes, like bans, require additional parameters. Remember that mode letters are case-sensitive; +i is not the same mode as +I.

Some important modes are:
* i: Makes the channel invite-only. For #MFGG, this mode should only be set in emergencies.
* j: Throttles users who join. It takes <count:time> as an parameter. For example, /mode #MFGG +j 5:30 would only allow five users inside the channel in a thirty-second period.
* k: Sets a key or password for entering the channel, taking <key> as a parameter. For example, /mode #MFGG +k SuperWalrus would require everyone joining to send /join #MFGG SuperWalrus to enter #MFGG. This mode should only be used during emergencies.
* m: Moderated; all regular users cannot send messages but voiced users and ops can. Best used for stopping heated arguments and certain emergencies.
* n: No external messages; users cannot /msg to the channel unless they are in it.
* o: Grants ops to a <nickname> (setting this mode won't work on #MFGG, as the SECURE channel setting is turned on).
* p: Private; disables /knock to the channel.
* s: Secret; hides the channel from lists and from /whois
* t: Ops topic; only ops may change the topic.
* v: Voice; lets this <nickname> speak when mode +m is set.

Kicking and Setting Bans, Quiets, and Exceptions
If a user is causing trouble and ignores a verbal warning, the user may be booted from the channel via /kick <nickname>. However, some users will still not get the message after getting forced out of the channel, and will rejoin to cause more trouble. This is what bans and quiets are for. These users can be banned, which blocks messages and prevents these users from rejoining (you'll still need to kick them out).

Channel bans are set via /mode #MFGG +b <nick!ident@host>, where nick is the user's nick, ident is the user's provided username or ident, and host is the user's IP address or hostname. The ban accepts asterisks (*) as wildcard characters, which will substitute for any number of characters.

To get the user's ident and host, use /whois <nick>. You should see something like this:

* [Somebody] (~chatzilla@31-63-127-255.hsd1.ca.comcast.net): New Now Know How
* [Somebody] #MFGG
* [Somebody] anarchy.esper.net :Destroy All White Permanents (Strasbourg, France)
* [Somebody] End of WHOIS list.

In this case, the user's <nick!ident@host> would be Somebody!~chatzilla@31-63-127-255.hsd1.ca.comcast.net.

You can ban by any combination of these three, putting wildcards in place of whatever doesn't need to match. However, nick bans and ident bans are extremely easy to circumvent, as a user can change nick with /nick and change ident by disconnecting and modifying their client settings. Thus, an IP/hostname ban would be the only effective ban type (e.g. *!*@31-63-127-255.hsd1.ca.comcast.net).

For many people, an IP address or hostname is difficult to change. However, some people have dynamic IP addresses and may continue to cause trouble. This necessitates a more general ban, using a wildcard for part of the address/hostname (e.g. *!*@31-63-*.hsd1.ca.comcast.net). This more general ban would block the entire IP block used by Comcast. Due to the potential for a general ban to block innocent users, such bans should only be used when ordinary host bans fail.

A list of banned nick!ident@hosts can be viewed by simply entering /mode #MFGG +b without any additional parameters. Other channel modes with similar lists are +q (quiet; blocks messages and nick changes), +e (ban exception), and +I (invite exemption), and work with nick!ident@host matches in the same way.

Using Extended Bans
The EsperNet IRCd supports a neat little feature that allows you to set bans (or other modes with lists) with to match things other than nick!ident@host. These are called Extended Bans, extbans, or ban conditionals.

For more information on extended bans, see the

Using AKICK to set temporary bans
One thing great about the Atheme services package is that its ChanServ lets you set temporary bans. The AKICK (or automatic kickban) feature lets you do this. Another advantage of the AKICK list is it persists when the channel is empty. Please note that the AKICK list will not kickban users with the +r permission flag (i.e. all op roles).

Admin Permissions
Admins are ops with elevated privileges. In addition to all the Mod privileges, they can change the permissions of other users (provided said users do not outrank them with permission flags they don't have) and change channel settings.

Modifying the Access List
Users with the Admin template can modify the access list, letting them give Voice, Mod, and Admin role templates to other users. To do so, enter /cs flags #MFGG <nickname> <template>. One can also set raw flags instead of templates, but I would greatly prefer

Changing Channel Settings
Admins are also able to use ChanServ's SET command, which changes various channel settings. Detailed information is available via /cs help set. Despite having the permission to do so, it would be great if you could discuss changes to channel settings with the founder and other ops first!

Successor/Founder Permissions
Successors have all the Admin priviliges and are granted immunity to bans (and the ability to unban themselves if they are somehow locked out of the channel anyway). They can also use the following ChanServ commands. If the Founder is absent for an extended period of time, a successor will be assigned as a new Founder.

Founders have total control over the channel, including the ability to transfer Founder status and drop channel registration. Cap'n Coconuts is the only Founder.

Recover, Sync, and Clear
RECOVER is intended to counter channel takeovers. While this shouldn't be likely on #MFGG, the command is still helpful in emergencies. RECOVER will remove ops, clear user limit and keys, remove bans matching you, add a ban exception matching you, set the channel to invite-only and moderated (mode +im) and invite you to the channel.

SYNC will force all channel statuses to flags, giving/taking away permissions as necessary. It doesn't seem particularly useful with the secure setup, but whatever.

CLEAR takes USERS, BANS, or FLAGS as a parameter. Clearing users via /cs clear users [reason] kicks all users from the channel. Clearing bans will purge the ban list. Besides the ban list (type b), the command can also be used to purge ban exception (type e), invite exemption (type I), and quiet lists (type q) via /cs clear bans [types]. FLAGS can only be used by those with full founder access, and purges all flags from users who are not founders.

Hello Clone is a term used to identify a fangame as an engine-built game that lacks significant alterations to the base engine's gameplay. While this term is most widely used in regards to fangames that are built off of Hello Mario Engine, it is not uncommon for it to be applied to fangames built off of other engines, such as Engine VII. The music that is included in the engine's source is usually, but not always, swapped out, as that requires minimal effort, and Hello Clones almost always have custom levels built by the engine cloner. This leads to many considering Hello Clones to be merely level packs.

Another common characteristic of Hello Clones is that they use Super Mario Advance 4 or Super Mario All-Stars sprites as the main graphical style. While this is not inherent of Hello Clones, it is the most common practice as those are included in the source of most Mario engines, which in turn is because they are the most ripped and edited Mario sprites. The large volume of Hello Clones has lead to many MFGGers growing sick of the over-used sprites.

Hello Clones rarely gain a positive reception from the MFGG community. However, many other communities have different standards and still regard Hello Clones as a novel idea.

Many fangame developers got into fangame development due to the availability of Hello Engine, many of whom originally knew of its existence from finding Hello Clones.

Hello Clone Examples
* Super Mario 2D Land
* Super Mario: Hard Game

Typical Mario Game (Previously Known as Hello Clone)
Typical Mario Game
On August 7th, 2012, Supernova released a short game called Typical Mario Game, which he claimed to be a typical game made with Hello's old SMB game. The first few levels were regarded as generic grassland levels, but the game gradually becomes less similar to a typical Hello clone and adds more gimmicks. One level features a pogo-stick, while another has the player battling a Mario Nazi. The game has gotten positive reception for being much more imaginative than a Hello Clone.

CocoBot is a bot on the EsperNET MFGG IRC written in the mIRC Scripting Language (abbreviated as mSL or mIRC Script). In contrast to historical MFGG IRC bots like Goonbot and xbot, CocoBot's primary purpose is for playing games with other chat users.

Features
* Game scripts, generally provided by the mIRC scripting community.
** IRC-Uno: 2-10 players, written by LostLion.
** Apples to Apples: Intended for 4-8 players, written by KholdStare88. Tends to crash during longer games.
** Dice Poker: 2+ players, written by Geckat.
* 8 Ball: Magic 8 ball.
* Dice rolling: CocoBot can roll dice with true randomness provided by the online HotBits service.
* Logging: CocoBot logs chat activity while it is online.
* Swear kicker: A script modified from mIRC examples that automatically kicks swearing users. The script is intended to be consistent with the MFGG forum's own swear filter.

Essential Commands
All CocoBot commands are preceded by a "!" prefix, and are case-insensitive. Most can be sent to CocoBot privately via /msg CocoBot <command> (which you may prefer for some commands like !Report).

* !Help: Fetches a list of commands and help topics.
* !Help RULES: Fetches the channel rules.
* !Help UNO, !Help ATA, !Help DP: Provides help for UNO, Apples to Apples, and Dice Poker respectively. You must be in #MFGG_GAMES to play these games.
* !8ball: Generates a random result for any yes or no question. But remember, it is only a virtual ball.
* !Report <reason>: Sends a memo to all ops and alerts the ops channel of any emergencies. To limit abuse, you must be in #MFGG to use this command and can only use it every 5 minutes.
* !Roll <dice>: Rolls dice and performs integer math. For example, !roll 3d6+3*2 rolls three six-sided dice, adds them up, then adds six.

The MFGG IRC is the unofficial IRC chatroom of MFGG. It has moved back and forth between the servers of OFTC and BadnikNET, currently settling in OFTC once again. There is also another IRC chatroom on EsperNET, intended to operate more closely with MFGG's own rules.

History
BadnikNET - #mfgg
Black Squirrel, an ex-admin of MFGG, took a great interest in the chatroom after the move to BadnikNET, and in November/December 2008 put together a timetable for IRC events in an attempt to make the chatroom more active. It has so far worked reasonably well.

The channel was once "protected" by a retired Goonbot, who acts as a ChanServ bot and automatically kicks people for excess flooding. Goonbot itself has been met with mixed reviews, though it has received various tweaks since to be a bit fairer. Like all chatrooms on BadnikNET, it was also home to Motobug, a bot that simply records posting data. Motobug doesn't actually do anything inside of the chatroom however - it just logs things.

The activities on the MFGG IRC have occasionally provoked controversy, especially in the drama-laden year of 2010. Some members, especially those in the administration, felt the risque content that often appears on the IRC didn't reflect well upon MFGG's image, and some IRC members ended up instigating problems that spread onto the forums, including a raid on another forum. There were also frequent accusations that the spring staff members - all of whom were IRC regulars - favored those who used the IRC. These problems are no longer as relevant after The Split, however, and the IRC is active less often today. A large chunk of today's IRC users have left both MFGG and Minus World.

This incarnation of MFGG IRC no longer exists.

OFTC - #mfggirc
At some point in late 2009, the BadnikNET #mfgg channel was permanently muted and the members moved back over to OFTC.net, with Quicky becoming an Op once again.

This is currently the 4th iteration of the channel, which used to be on Mysteria (currently a defunct IRC server). The channel's population varies depending on the time of day. Users should note that the old #mfggirc has little to do with MFGG nowadays, being a bit more like a Minus World channel instead.

EsperNet - #MFGG
On December 6th, 2015, Cap'n Coconuts created an alternative IRC channel on EsperNet, dubbing it The NEW MFGG IRC. The chat aims to be a prime candidate for being an official chatoom, should the MFGG administration choose to acknowledge it as such. Thus, it is designed to be a friendly environment open to all MFGGers, with rules similar to the forum rules. This chat also features CocoBot, a multi-purpose bot that greets users, hosts a number of games, rolls dice, and kicks users who use forum-filtered profanities.

Operators
This is the current set of IRC operators:

OFTC
*@Quicky
*@Lifning
*@Xgoff
*@El Huesudo II

Admins and Global Mods used to qualify for op and regular Mods and Site Staff qualified for half-op. However, the IRC is now unofficial and this is no longer in place.

EsperNet
*@Cap'n Coconuts (founder)
*@VinnyVideo (successor)
*@Techokami (admin)
*@HylianDev (admin)
*@Gato (mod)
*@Dustinvgmaster (mod)
*@Nite Shadow (mod)
*@CocoBot (bot)

MFGG staff may be given ops or voice if they join the channel. By default, mainsite or forum admins or tech admins will be given admin or successor roles, while other staff and select model MFGG citizens will be given mod access. Registered staff who are uninterested in channel management will be voiced.

IRC Status Symbols and Roles
The @ symbol marks channel operators. These users can change the topic, kick and ban other users, and have ChanServ control depending on their access level. They can also invite users if the channel is set to invite only. Ops can voice users with channel mode +v, and in channels without a SECURE/SECUREOPS ChanServ setting, ops can op other users with channel mode +o.

The + symbol marks voiced users. These users have no power over other users, but are able to speak if the channel is moderated (set mode +m). When the channel isn't moderated, it is used as a status symbol of respect. Some IRC channels may have their own meaning for the voice status.

IRC users may have the following roles as defined via ChanServ.

OFTC (#mfggirc) Access Levels
* MEMBER: Allows the user to request voice and invite themselves into the channel should it be set to invite-only.
* CHANOP: Allows use of op abilities (op/deop, kick, ban, etc.).
* MASTER: Gives total control over the channel, including all the advanced ChanServ commands.

EsperNet (#MFGG) Access Levels
* Voice: Gets auto-voiced and can view the access list. that's about it.
* Mod: Automatically opped upon identifying for their nick. Since #MFGG has SECURE on, they cannot add more ops. They have limited ChanServ access, but they can kick, ban, and quiet when not in the channel via ChanServ.
* Admin: In addition to the above, they can use ChanServ's SET command to change channel settings. They can also modify other users' access levels, letting them make other mods, admins, and auto-voiced users.
* Successor: Near-total channel control. In addition to the above, they can use ChanServ's RECOVER command to counter a takeover and CLEAR to kick everyone from the channel. As the name implies, they are candidates for promotion to Founder if the founder is gone for an extended period of time. Admins cannot change their access since they outrank Admins, and they are immune to bans.
* Founder: Total channel control. Has all the Successor privileges, can purge the access list, and can drop the channel registration.

OFTC
*@Quicky
*@Lifning
*@Xgoff
*@El Huesudo II

Admins and Global Mods used to qualify for op and regular Mods and Site Staff qualified for half-op. However, the IRC is now unofficial and this is no longer in place.

*@Dustinvgmaster (mod)
*@Nite Shadow (mod)
*@CocoBot (bot)

A quick breakdown on roles:

MFGG staff may be given ops or voice if they join the channel. By default, mainsite or forum admins or tech admins will be given admin or successor roles, while other staff and select model MFGG citizens will be given mod access. Registered staff who are uninterested in channel managemennt will be voiced.

IRC Status Symbols and Roles
@ marks channel operators.

+ marks voiced users. These users have no power over other users, but are able to speak if the channel is moderated (set mode +m). When the channel isn't moderated, it is used as a status symbol of respect.

On EsperNet, operators have different ChanServ access levels depending on their roles as follows:

Has all the Successor privileges and then some.

From IRC network information to quickly connecting to a network. All users serious about using IRC should check out the IRC tutorial, as well as information on their network's NickServ (learning about ChanServ and MemoServ also wouldn't hurt). New Channel Operators should definitely read the channel operator's guide, should know the channel modes, and should know how to use ChanServ.

Super Mario Dynamo is a platformer created by Hello, built off of the Hello Mario Engine. The game features wall jumping mechanics, and is designed to be very challenging, but at the same time, forgiving, as the difficulty is offset by the removal of the lives system, and the plentiful checkpoints.

Synopsis
The people of the Mushroom Kingdom have finally embraced industrialization, and it is all thanks to everyone's favorite plumber, Luigi! Unfortunately, Luigi's greed got the best of him, and the entire kingdom became shrouded in darkness. The thick smog emanating from Luigi's accomplishments have darkened the once bright and colorful kingdom. It is now up to Mario to try and solve this dilemma!

Reception
The game received mixed ratings. While it was noted as one of Hello's more innovative games, and praised for its wall jump mechanics, lighting, and its unique use of powerups, it was also disliked for what was considered an unfair difficulty curve. In addition to this, many MFGGers complained of the use of Super Mario Bros. 3 graphics, which have often been criticized as overused. However, the unique tilesets were greatly enjoyed by most players.

This chat also features CocoBot, a multi-purpose bot that greets users, hosts Uno card games, rolls dice, and kicks users who use profanities that are censored on the forums.

This chat also features CocoBot, a multi-purpose bot that greets users, hosts Uno card games, rolls dice, and kicks users who use profanities that are censored on the forums.

** Apples to Apples: 4-8 players, written by KholdStare88.
** Dice Poker: 2+ players, written by Geckat. This game has not yet been tested.
* Swear kicker: A script modified from mIRC examples that automatically kicks swearing users. The script is intended to be consistent with the MFGG forum's own swear filter.
* Dice rolling: CocoBot can roll dice with true randomness provided by the online HotBits service.
* Logging: CocoBot logs chat activity while it is online.

Essential Commands
All CocoBot commands are preceded by a "!" prefix.

* !Rules: Sends you the chat's rules.
* !UnoHelp: Provides essential IRC-Uno commands and a link to the game's rules.
* !AtAHelp: Provides Apples to Apples commands and a link to the game's rules.
* !roll: Rolls dice and performs integer math. For example, "!roll 3d6+3*2" rolls three six-sided dice, adds them up, then adds six.
* !sendroll: Sends a dice roll to the specified person. This can be sent as a private message. For example, "/msg CocoBot !sendroll SomeGuy 3d6" would send the results of the roll to SomeGuy.

RII GOES ON A RAMPAGE is a topic made by Klobber. Originally consisting of an image of RII with a spider in his mouth (see below), it eventually became a popular topic where MFGGers posted images of RII being portrayed as emo, killing himself or other moderators/admins (especially Klobber), or being the boss in general. At first the drawings were intentionally bad MSPaint drawings, until Xgoff posted an emo RII. Afterwards, the quality slightly increased. Eventually, it was stickied as per usual topics of this popularity.

After that, it was moved to the Archives.

How it started
It all started when Klobber on Feb. 21 2007 posted a picture of RII having a giant spider in his mouth, having an awkward look and saying "SQUARK". The spider was referring to FuPoo because of his fear of spiders. RII's first response was:

"what the ****? ".

The Hallowsphere was both the primary Halloween event for 2015 and the series of subforums in which it took place. The Hallowsphere was controlled by Phanto and consisted of three layers: Shallow, Medial, and Deep.

Entering the Hallowsphere
All layers of the Hallowsphere were protected by passwords, or "keys" as Phanto called them. For each "key", Phanto provided clues as how to enter in the previous level, with the hints for the Shallow Hallowsphere provided in the General Chat. The last password was a conglomeration of four password chunks, each with its own clue. The passwords for these forums are:

* Shallow Hallowsphere: GHOST
* Medial Hallowsphere: BONEBURSTKINGDOM
* Deep Hallowsphere: HTTPSGUSTYRIGBYGOATS

The first person to correctly enter the final password and enter the Deep Hallowsphere would be awarded a Golden Skull badge. Everyone else who entered in 24 hours after the hints were provided would receive a Silver Skull badge, and those who entered after 24 hours would be awarded a Stone Skull badge.

The Sinister Plot
The Deep Hallowsphere appeared to be an incarnation of the PPP. It was flooded with topics soon after its clues were provided, most of the topics being utterly mindless. At some point, King Boo appeared and posted, hinting at a sinister purpose for the Hallowsphere. On the day of Halloween, it was revealed that Phanto had drawn MFGGers to his realm to claim their souls, using them to gain the power to become a god. All MFGG members who were not already killed by Wario, even the mainsite and forum administrators, were slain.

The Valiant Stand
It was believed by some that Phanto was a lackluster character and that his Hallowsphere did not compare to last year's event. Cap'n Coconuts in particular took great exception to Phanto's existence, initially parodying Phanto's clues and his entire existence in Super Mario Bros. 2. When Phanto paid little attention to his barbs, Cap'n Coconuts proceeded to make a hilariously hammy speech ridiculing Phanto's hints and challenging him to battle. The mockery continued as Phanto did little but write angry replies with increasing amounts of red text. Can of Nothing joined in on making a farce of Phanto and his domain, primarily by drawing parody comic strips.

Alas, despite his valiant stand against this unwanted, unholy being, Cap'n Coconuts was no match for Phanto. As Halloween approached, Phanto proceeded to steal the souls of every MFGGer on the forums and drew Cap'n Coconuts to the deepest part of his lair. With the power of all the souls of MFGG, he shed his mask and revealed his nightmarish true form, slaughtering Cap'n Coconuts before a fight could even begin. Phanto's plan was a resounding success, with no one left to oppose him.

The Breaking Point
In spite of his complete victory in stealing the souls of everyone on MFGG, Phanto was not cut out for godhood and could not handle the stress of listening to all of MFGG's souls at the same time. Rather than buy a pair of earplugs, Phanto willingly gave up his godhood and released all of the souls he had stolen, each one gaining a second chance at life. However, because Cap'n Coconuts had angered him so greatly, his essence was cursed to take the form of an undying shadow, never to rest in peace.

As he banished all the souls from his Hallowsphere, Phanto vowed that he would return, possibly to control the souls of MFGG once more. He also demanded a refund from Wario, implying that Wario was paid to assist with Phanto's plans.

LooneyTunerIan or Ian for short, is an MFGGer who joined on May 2, 2009. He is infamous for requesting sprite sheets to indirectly contribute content to MFGG. After being muted on the main site, LooneyTunerIan vowed that even though he'll continue submitting sprite sheets to the main site, he would leave negative comments within the descriptions or in the sprite sheets themselves. Due to the hate stamp Ian had made, it is unlikely that his account will ever be unmuted.

Member History
LooneyTunerIan first joined the main site on May 2, 2009. Over the years, he has made many requests for new sprite sheets or additions to already uploaded sheets. Why he frequently asked for these sprites is unknown, as there is zero evidence of him using anything he requested. Nonetheless, the frequent gratuitous requests for sprites were an annoyance to many mainsite users. This behavior apparently continued for years, opposed only by a disgruntled member or two.

On September 2015, an argument broke out in the comments for Mario RPG Series 8-Bit Sprites between LooneyTunerIan and Somari64. LooneyTunerIan refused to stop making gratuitous requests unless the rules explicitly included circumstances in which he could not. While he fully understood the letter of the law, Ian had no appreciation for the spirit behind it. This, in addition to unnecessarily bashing the sprite sheet, may be the cause of him being muted on the mainsite.

A Foiled Mute Evasion
On September 10, Ian created a duplicate account named DukeyDukeyDoo to evade his mute. On October 1, this account requested a Super Mario Maker section for sprites in an update post, raising red flags for a few members. VinnyVideo inspected the account and discovered that not only was it a dupe, but that both accounts had the same e-mail address. The dupe was quickly banned.

Noticing that his dupe account was banned and that he was being called out for having one, Ian stormed into the forums, still defiant regarding the rules. He then threatened to submit sprite sheets, not having "anything nice to say at all" in their descriptions. As all submissions are inspected by the site staff before being seen by all other users, this immature and poorly thought out plot was bound to fail. According to VinnyVideo, he followed through with this threat--proclaiming "MFGG STINKS!" in a sprite submission (which may have been rejected).

Wiki Activity
In the days following his dupe account's ban, Ian became active on the wiki, editing pages related to him to insinuate that MFGG was at fault for everything that had happened to him. He also blanked his user page redirect, replacing it with a demand to "leave his profile alone". During this time, he also uploaded an animated GIF expressing his hatred for MFGG, unwittingly starting a new fad. Taking into account his previous immaturity, VinnyVideo blocked him from making edits to the wiki for three months, granting him the dubious honor of being the first non-spambot account VinnyVideo has ever blocked.

Before MFGG
In 2002, a new evil entered the Internet for the first time. Its name was Asia, who eventually took on the name *A-chana* (yes, asteriks) by 2003. She was a stereotypical Mary-Sue-writing, overly hyper, script-format-loving n00b who was somehow never flamed, making her think she was actually cool. Her dreams were shattered when the first two chapters of a story she had written were rejected on strict rule, yet the third was accepted, destroying the entire effect of the story. A-chana went into hiatus, and never returned to the site except for two or three occasions. She later learned her best friend there had left the site, the last PM she ever got from her being something the the effect of "Hey? Where are you? Hellooooooo... *wind passes by, echoes*".

A-chana became more intelligent after these events. She began joining message boards. What truly helped her mature was when she registered for the Koopatorivm in 2003-04 and saw the general maturity of its members. She has only kept improving, discarding most of the Mary Sue qualities of her Internet persona and her characters. However, she can easily be emotionally attached to things, and thus kept many Sueish traits. She has an affinity for half-breeds, presumably from her half-Filipino background. This is shown in her catgirl persona and her main RP character, who is half-Paragoomba.

Killz and Skillz
Also during 2004, A-chana joined MFGG -- she believes she found it from a link from Cammiluna. She idled occasionally, returning briefly to fits of laughter over a new fad and the DxA fiasco, the latter of which seemed to die off after a long hiatus from her. And if DxA were to return, it would be very illogical; see Recent Life for more info. Eventually, she went on a VERY long break from MFGG, almost slipping away from everyone's minds. Almost.

A-chana is not particularly skilled in spriting. Only a few times has she actually sprited; and she's much better at edits than making sprites from scratch. She lacks the proper utilities for movies or games, and while her drawings are well-liked, she has no scanner and her digital camera is horrid. However, her remedy to that is uploading the picture of the drawing into MSPaint and redoing all the lines (but in white), then setting the attributes to black and white, inverting the colors, and setting it back to colors and coloring it all in. The retracing part is very tedious, though, made worse by a worn-down mouse and horrid hand-eye coordination.

Her writing, though vastly improved from her early days, still leaves something to be desired at times. There are snippets of old fanfics lying around the web, although she'd rather not have you go look for them.

Recent Life and Gaming Info
She is still rather eccentric -- but no longer claims the identity of "Chosen of Light and Sugar who helps save the world alongside videogame heroes and makes the underdog her wuv slave". Her character is a sarcastic catgirl who attacks at the drop of a hat, doing nothing to help the world or indirectly destroying it. Her slaves are no longer for sexual or romantic purposes, but rather to GET THEIR BUTTS IN THE KITCHEN AND MAKE HER SOME POPCORN.

Recently, A-chana has returned to find out that things haven't changed much, although the people posting have. She doesn't post nearly as much as she used to, but still retains the same attitude from long ago, except less violent. As stated earlier, DxA wouldn't make any sense anymore; A-chana made an online boyfriend during her hiatus, and he didn't even go to MFGG. However, on August 8th, 2006, they broke up due to long distance more or less killing them on the inside. They still remain friends, though, and A-chana keeps hope that, if they ever manage to live close to each other, they can give love another chance.
She still plays MapleStory, despite the claims that "MapleStory sucks". Both of her characters, a level 3x Page named TxSLovekid and a level 2x Beginner named EishaMuru, are in Bera. She also finally got Animal Crossing: Wild World, although only a few people have ever visited her town so far. To prevent random idiots adding her, her friend code is withheld, although her current sig contains it. However, her name is Asia, and her town is Sasako, a nod to a (non-MFGG) RP.
Cap'n Coconutshttps://wiki.mfgg.net/index.php?title=Iceman3k&diff=44939Iceman3k2015-10-07T04:22:25Z
Cap'n Coconuts: Removed reference to a deleted category.

Iceman3k joined MFGG on May 29th, 2003, during the times vBulletin was still being used. In 2003, he managed to do a lot of stupid things, such as posting unfinished TGF sprite libs and having a very terrible ego. His ego managed to get him into serious trouble at that time. He was notoriously known by the shaded sprites he constantly posts on occasions.

In 2004, he managed to get into quarrels with many MFGG members, with Rexator Birdo being one, and Draco Icebane another at the time. He managed to try and shrug all of it off, which managed to take a big amount of effort.

Around March 2004, he was banned for 4 months from MFGG, with the reasons being him spamming the Penguinia forums, as well as his never-ending battles with Joey. Also, his attempting to flame Klobber and a few other MFGG members in an AIM chat also made an impact.

On July 3 2004, after managing to deeply apologize to Klobber, Iceman3k returned under the name "Darkhorn", which was a big sheep monster from Dragon Warrior 6. He often posted the word "bleat" in efforts to irritate people, which worked effectively. After one week, he managed to unveil his identity, and end his sheep charade. He still had his battles with selected MFGG members, and has been TempBanned a number of times.

In 2005, he finally managed to clean up his act. Although he became a little less active, Iceman3k tried really hard to end his battles with others, and succeeded. Afterward, he just became a basic member who makes posts on the forums.

Iceman3k's Character
Iceman3k went through a small cycle of character changes. His first phase was a mere Mario recolor. After a good while, he managed to do some things to it. His character is now a young boy that wields amazing Elemental Abilities, who wears dark blue pants and hat, a light blue shirt, and whitish blue shoes. To this day, he's still mistaken for a mere Mario recolor, but Iceman3k manages to argue out the situation still.

Iceman3k's Fangames
Iceman3k had a lot of fangames that were never finished, most of them being due to lack of interest. He's tried several times in 2003 with Mario Fangaming while being a beginner at TGF. The attempts failed.

One of his projects was called Pipe Crisis, in which he attempted to remake the 1983 Classic, Mario Bros. The project has been discontinued twice due to lack of time and interest.

Then came Super Luigi Land, in which the game's development only went as far as an edit of the Super Mario Land Title Screen.

Another was Super Mario: Bowser's Revenge. The game went through 2 engine releases, then was discontinued.

Then in 2004, he had a game called Icy's Quest, which was a game revolving around his character. The game went under many engine changes and releases, and then was discontinued due to lack of interest.

His current project at the time is Tatanga's Terror, a project which has been recently started. In this game, Iceman3k attempts to faithfully remake Super Mario Land. He has high hopes that the project will succeed.

Closing
Iceman3k has gone under a weird array of changes. As of today, he only lurks the forums on rare occasions, as many other things draw him away. What the future holds for him is a big mystery.
Cap'n Coconutshttps://wiki.mfgg.net/index.php?title=Masakuni&diff=44938Masakuni2015-10-07T04:21:53Z
Cap'n Coconuts: Removed reference to a deleted category.

Masakuni joined MFGG on December 15th, 2004, while he was under the screenname "Kooper Koopa". He had found the link from a certain member at one of the 2 forums he went to, the Koopatorivm Kboard. He decided to lurk at MFGG for a bit but shortly joined after he discovered how awesome a forum it was. Although he wasn't a perfect member, he was pretty nice, and he had experience from 2 other forums, Lemmy's Land forums and the Kboard, so he got off to a decent start. He eventually made many friends, such as Omega Koopa, Kitsune Yamato, Bowserman, Naoshi, Delichanicho, and many others, and with that he found out about many different forums from friends.

On February 24th, 2006, exactly 3 years after he joined his first forum, Masakuni shedded the Kooper identity and took on a whole new character: a blue haired kid who held a wand that's capable of turning living things into plushies and back again. He later threw out this idea for a character for a dragon (whose color is blue, has a white underbelly, purple scales running down from the top of his head through his back all the way down to his tail, and purple wings). Also this resulted into the name he is known as today, yet some people still call him Kooper. Also he began drawing, yet he admits he's not the best at it, so he tries to look for ways to improve. Some say he's getting better too. However, he's having a bit of a slowdown on his art as of late, and he doesn't post all of his art at MFGG.

Masakuni has certainly changed over the course of his time here. He isn't as open about certain interests as he used to be. Also, his activity at MFGG has been at a decline lately. However, he still posts at MFGG, and may continue to do so in the future. However, there are lots of places and friends he makes outside of MFGG, and he isn't as interested in MFGG as he was in past years. If you get to know Masakuni you'll find that he is a pretty nice and cheerful individual. Though at MFGG he can be either very witty or very serious, depending on the situation. Maybe he's not as witty as he'd like? I dunno.

Masakuni may not be one of the more well-known members of MFGG, but if you get to know him, he's a pretty nice guy.

In Jul 12, 2013, Masakuni returned to MFGG.

Zasshou first joined MFGG in the summer of '06, and has been a sporadic at best poster. He has shown no particular interest in any of the relevant topics om mfgg and seems to exist only for the community, at this time. His only notable contributions thus far have been a sprite sheet of himself in NO_Body's Battle Sprite style, and some enemies for the fan hack, MFGG Story, currently still in development.

Zasshou is in fact the elder brother of another MFGGer, MechaChao. The two of them rarely communicate within the board, unless one is waiting impatiently for the other on something needed for a project. He also seems to have a distaste for younger and/or compulsively controlling users, and often makes derisive comments and borderline flames against such members, due by and large to a general distaste for bad rhetoric and poor behavior. Somewhat ironic, given his history.

Zasshou was permanently banned on December 2, 2006, following a three day ban for reporting his own posts. The reason for the second, harsher ban was his creation of a dupe account for the sole purpose of posting a single instance of goatse. Throughout the next two years, Zasshou would sporadically return, most often resulting in another permaban.

Reinstated
After re-registering under Vihuri, Mecha informed Black Squirrel of his prescence in order to absolve himself of any responsibility for Zash's actions. However, there was no immediate banning, and as such Zash himself eventually pm'd both Black Squirrel and Shyguy Grey, inquiring as to whether or not he could legitimately return. He was banned again by SGG, but had it repealed a month later and now enjoys renewed posting privileges.
Cap'n Coconutshttps://wiki.mfgg.net/index.php?title=Pok%C3%A9mon_Netbattle&diff=44935Pokémon Netbattle2015-10-07T04:17:44Z
Cap'n Coconuts: Removed reference to a deleted category.

Pokémon Netbattle is an online Pokémon battle simulator. Instead of training your own Pokémon, you can define your own Pokémon's type, moves, ev's, etc using a simple team builder. For this reason, NetBattle relies more on strategy and luck rather than an ability to raise good Pokémon (which would require the same anyway). It is quite popular on MFGG even after Pokémon Diamond / Pearl's release. MikeL hosts his own server for members to play.

Occassionally, the MFGGers will get together and do a tournament. Several such tournaments took place.

While he fully understood the letter of the law, Ian had no appreciation for the spirit behind it--which resulted in him being muted on the mainsite.

I am against MFGG, also known as The MFGG Hate Stamp or The Anti-MFGG Stamp, is a fad which was inadvertently started by LooneyTunerIan and VinnyVideo. The fad was started when LooneyTunerIan uploaded an animated GIF to the MFGG Wiki showing the MFGG banner, crossed out, followed by text reading: "I am against Mario Fan Games Galaxy." The image may have been uploaded in response to being caught evading a mute on the mainsite. The image was removed from the wiki by VinnyVideo, but was discovered by other MFGGers and shared in an unofficial Skype chat before it was deleted.

Following this, MFGGers decided to add the image to their signatures, using the stamp ironically. LuigiM9 was probably the first to do this, followed by several others. Some staff members also added the image to their signatures, including VinnyVideo himself. Meanwhile, Cap'n Coconuts created a forum game to parody users with poor reasons to hold grudges against MFGG.
