Super Mario Dynamo is a platformer created by Hello, built off of the Hello Mario Engine. The game features wall jumping mechanics, and is designed to be very challenging, but at the same time, forgiving, as the difficulty is offset by the removal of the lives system, and the plentiful checkpoints.
Synopsis
The people of the Mushroom Kingdom have finally embraced industrialization, and it is all thanks to everyone's favorite plumber, Luigi! Unfortunately, Luigi's greed got the best of him, and the entire kingdom became shrouded in darkness. The thick smog emanating from Luigi's accomplishments have darkened the once bright and colorful kingdom. It is now up to Mario to try and solve this dilemma!
Updates
The version 1.1 update of Super Mario Dynamo added Daredevil Mode, a game mode where every hit results in instant death, minor level design tweaks, and backported bug fixes.
Reception
The game received mixed ratings. While it was noted as one of Hello's more innovative games, and praised for its wall jump mechanics, lighting, and its unique use of powerups, it was also disliked for what was considered an unfair difficulty curve. The people who disliked the game mostly had trouble getting past the first level, and in particular, disliked having to wall jump over bottomless pits. However, those that got through a good portion of the game tended to like the game more. In addition to this, many MFGGers complained of the use of Super Mario Bros. 3 graphics, which have often been criticized as overused. However, the unique tilesets were greatly enjoyed by most players.
