Minus World is a community-centric forum and web-based fighting game, originally created as an offshoot of the MFGG Forums in November [2010]. It was initially founded and run by Kyori until his resignation in August 2012. The current incarnation is run by Draku and Elyk, with lead development handled by Spritanium.

Forum Creation

The official reason for Minus World's creation was so MFGG's own forums could return to a game development-orientated focus, as the majority of the community was interested mostly in chatting and not so much in game development.

Another primary reason was because Yoshiman noticed that said community had been falling apart due to rampant argument and trolling, so he directed Kyori to create Minus World for the less desirable members to post on instead. Many of these troublemakers have already gotten banned from MW, but the constant trolling these members have caused has contributed to a precipitous drop in activity compared to pre-split MFGG. MW's community has generally tried to distance itself from the new MFGG forums, and very few members post regularly on both boards.

While Minus World was originally intended to have a greater focus on development of indie games, hardly anyone on MW actually makes games. Instead, MW's focus has been discussion of commercial video games and general off-topic conversation, along with an occasional piece of artwork. Kyori is still working on a mainsite for MW, although development has taken much longer than expected. This mainsite is essentially a replacement for the existing forum software with many new features, but it's unclear when it will ever be completed, and whether it will bring in new members. In July 2012, a series of disagreements relating to interpretation of the rules resulted in Kyori and Teddy stepping down as administrators, bringing an end to mainsite development plans.
