Exquisite Corpse Collaboration

From Mario Fan Games Galaxy Wiki

The Exquisite Corpse Collaboration (commonly abbreviated "ExCo Collab") idea was first introduced to the Mario Fan Games Galaxy Forums in December 2009 by Fender. Members could claim a tile on the grid that they wanted to decorate, just like the Isometric Collaboration, but each member is limited to only one tile. Tiles are submitted to the project leader, usually through PM, and the content of the tile is kept secret, except for a couple pixel border around the edges. The concept around the Exquisite Corpse Collaboration is to build off of just a portion of someone elses work. The collaboration is only fully revealed once every single tile has been completed and submitted to the project manager. Each collaboration so far has used a specific color palette to keep it appealing.

Collaboration #1

What went on

The first project's outline

Fender stumbled across an Exquisite Corpse Collaboration on the Pixelation forums and decided to give it a try on MFGG after the current Isometric Collaboration seemed to lose it's activity. The project was started on December 19, 2009 and was completed May 8, 2010. After the first 10 days, most of the active spriters who frequented MFGG at the time had already submitted a tile, causing a lack of participation until the topic was bumped May 3, 2010 and within 5 days of bumping, the project was completed.

Fun Facts

  • This collaboration uses the Commodore 64 color palette (16 colors)
  • It features 16 triangular tiles
  • This collaboration was completed after 141 days

Collaboration #2

Beginnings and so forth

The second project's outline

The second Exquisite Corpse project was started on May 8, 2010, the day after the first one was completed. After getting off to a fast start, progress slowed down tremendously. The topic was originally located in the Arts Board, but due to lack of activity it was brought to the General Chat to help finally finish the collaboration. The collaboration was completed July 18, 2010.

Fun Facts

  • This collaboration uses a custom color palette created by Omnomlicous (18 colors)
  • It features 19 hexagonal tiles
  • This collaboration was completed after 71 days
